5 out of 5 stars Good overall security solution   June 22, 2008

Windows Live OneCare 2.0

While I do not particularly care much for Microsoft's business practices, I must say that OneCare is good software. Unlike that despicable Norton, which consumes a constant 35% of CPU/RAM and proves itself residual with a useless uninstall function, OneCare is simple, easy, and from what I can tell, effective. I got this free after rebate as well, which made buying it a no-brainer. 100% recommendation!

5 out of 5 stars A cinch to install and use.   June 21, 2008
I like this product. My only difficulty was getting it out of the packaging, which I finally put in the floor and stomped on, taking care to avoid stomping on the CD. After that, installation was a cinch.

First I uninstalled my trial version, then followed the simple installation instructions, and I was finished in just a matter of a few minutes. One thing I knew for sure from using the trial version of OneCare, and that is that it didn't act like it was the only thing running on my computer, as other security software does. I have tried numerous other types of security software and they have all absolutely driven me crazy with their constant updating or some other demand for my time and attention just when I was in the middle of doing something. OneCare updates, scans, does a back-up to your specified external drive, and even de-fragments, all behind the scenes and at times convenient for you.

I bought this for my fairly new notebook (running Vista) when my time was due to expire on the trial version I had downloaded from Microsoft's Web site. I was pleasantly surprised to find it here for less than I expected to pay -- free with a rebate.

4 out of 5 stars Microsoft Live One Care   June 16, 2008
This is a very good software. Its very similar to Norton 360 or System Mechanic Enterprise. The only con I can think of it is, it makes your system a bit slowere due to many background activities.

Its a very good product for a decent price.

3 out of 5 stars Best product available?   June 15, 2008
This is not a great product, but works well with windows. However, it does not help overcome many of the problems that one might encounter with the windows operating system and it brings with it a few frustrations of its own. It blocks a few legitimate programs and is by no means invisisble while it operates.
