1 out of 5 stars You can buy it - but you can never leave. You will be billed even after removing it   May 23, 2008

If you are looking for a good security suite for your PC, avoid Microsoft One Care at all cost. Anyone who signs up for this overly restrictive, unmanageable product, will have to fight to stop being billed, even after you have deleted it from your computers.

Like Hotel California, you can never leave. They billed my expired credit card - after I had deleted all instances, removed the product and moved on. I DID NOT want Microsoft One Care at all, had found a good security suite (Trend Micro PC Cillin is great). Still Microsoft billed me for another year at $49.95 - on an expired credit card.

If you check into this horrible product, you can't leave. You will be billed.

You will continue to be charged to use this badly flawed, overly restrictive product, Microsoft One Care, even if you find it a horrible experience, delete it and tell them what you think of if on the Microsoft One Care web site (they want a review when you uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel). Unfortunately, they still don't take the claws out of your computer.

It's like a stalker - you tell it to go away. Tell it that you are not interested. Tell it you never want to see it again. Then when 365 days have passed, it shows up on your credit card statement again. You have been billed $50 from a stalker software from MICROSOFT, for God's sake, who will not take no for an answer. You may want to call your local police department to get a restraining order against Microsoft. Ask them to keep this horribly written failure of a product at least 500 feet away from any computer in your possession.

Don't do it.

5 out of 5 stars Works like a charm on both of my computers   May 23, 2008

I've had a desktop computer for years and used Mcafee. I was sick of it slowing my computer down. I couldn't do anything because mcafee was busy scanning and it just really didn't run well with windows. I purchased a laptop about 6 months ago and decided to try Norton. Norton worked fine, but I couldn't even log into my bank account. Every web page I visited it would say I had to download something or do something and nothing worked until I uninstalled Norton. So then I decided to try Onecare. I love this product. It works perfectly. I hardly know it's there unless there's a problem with my computer. As far as this product being expensive. I got mine on sale for like 20 bucks. From time to time you can get it free after rebate on Amazon, so what do you have to loose? I would personally pay 100 bucks for this product because I can protect both of my computers and it works so well on them. I'm just sorry I didn't try Onecare sooner.

5 out of 5 stars The only protection/maintenance software you'll ever need.   May 20, 2008
For anyone using windows XP/VISTA this One Care is the only package you will ever need. It updates itself, maintains your system, scans for viruses has a firewall etc. and does system tune up's all in the one package. It never slows your system either, plus it's a trusted name from the source for windows, Microsoft. Forget mal-ware system destroying software like System Mechanic/Iolo software or Norton/AVG which DCS (Doesen't catch *hit). One care is all you need it's the ONE total system care package for Windows as the name states.

1 out of 5 stars "FREE" is still too much to pay for this *#@&% software !   May 17, 2008

Caused more problems than it resolved. It (supposedly) uninstalled "Norton System Works" during installation 'to avoid' conflicts, but left Symantec artifacts scattered around my PC and in the registry. My always faithful "iolo System Mechanic" started and ran so slowly that I thought my PC had 'hung'. Plus, had some weird display problems: desktop icons took minutes to be displayed, opening the Control Panel brought up that strange 'flashlight' to search for I never figured out what, etc., etc. Uninstalled OneCare and everything is mostly back to normal, though I'll probably spend several hours trying to figure out why I now get a "Windows-no disk" error message everytime I boot my PC. But, it was FREE!, validating the old 'you get what you pay for' proverb (though in this case I paid the price of hours of frustration).

5 out of 5 stars Goodbye Norton! Hello Windows Live OneCare!   May 17, 2008

This is a great product at a great price [...]. I was able to install it quickly and immediately noticed a difference in performance as compared to Norton. Internet browsing is faster and the automatic tune up is awesome (not everyone has time to defragment their computer on a regular). This product comes with three licenses so that it can be installed on three computers! Highly recommended.
