TurboTax and Connector March 29, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
So far, Turbo Tax Basic installed easily and imported financial data from my broker ect with no problems which saved me a lot of keystokes.
My complaint is with Amazon which did not send me a cable I ordered along with Turbo Tax. This cable addition to the order would have qualified me for free shipping, so my TOTAL cost would have been about the same as Turbo Tax alone. Amazon ackowledged my complaint about this screw-up but, so far, have done nothing to correct it. They make it very difficult to contact a human being, so I'm thinking of taking my business elsewhere. Dexter Goad
The Online Basic Version Might Be All You Need March 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These comments refer to the basic version of Turbo Tax available through their Web site. The review here by "Jeff from Denver" is exactly right. I'm pretty much locked in to Turbo Tax on an annual basis, and it does a great job of finding various things I would miss if I was still filing paper returns, and transferring last year's data and so forth. But the last two years have been confusing as Intuit has tried to market more advanced versions of the tax product. Which one is right? It's akin to Microsoft's multiple versions of the Vista operating system: There are too many and it gets confusing. Having acquired a number of mutual funds along with dividend and interest income in 2007, I was on the verge of paying for the "Deluxe" version of Turbo Tax, thinking that with these investments it would be the correct thing to do. But after reading Jeff's review--and after feeling duped by last year's "Super Deduction Finder" version--I decided to use the basic version for only $11.20 (Fidelity-sponsored, through March 28th).
Well, it worked fine. I was able to automatically import all my financial data from Fidelity, enter an IRA contribution, and even file an obscure K-1 form for an investment partnership that my wife is involved in (via the Tools, Forms option).
So I agree with Jeff completely. I think Intuit's marketing is running way ahead of itself and confusing people. Of course for people with complicated finances those advanced products could be of use. For those with more straightforward circumstances, I would think the basic version is all you need. It worked fine for me this year, whereas last year I overpaid for the "Super Deduction Finder" version.
Turbo Good March 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very basic. Does everything.....that a normal taxpayer would need done. This makes 16 TurboTax years in a row that I have bought. I have no complaints.
As Good as Always March 12, 2008 Our tax picture is not complicated, so the basic version worked fine. All information was transferred from our 2006 returns, so all I had to do was change the numbers. It was painless and took less than 90 minutes.
Excellent tax prep March 11, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is very good for preparing your taxes. I would recommend getting this every year.
