1 out of 5 stars Could not get this to work at all   December 10, 2006

Just so you don't think I don't have enough horsepower on the computer I am trying to use this on, I have a Intel duo core with 4GB ram and 1TB *thats 1000GB of hard drive space. I could NEVER get the pinnacle studio QS to load, it would always hang during installation (and I let it sit for over an hour to see if it was hung).

I also tried on a second computer. it would install, but after 30 minutes of it saying it was capturing, I had nothing captured (even though the preview showed it playing during capture.

This is being returned...

4 out of 5 stars Good, but not great   November 10, 2006

Does a nice job loading videos, and is simple to install and connect, though time consuming.

When editing, the system will unexplicably stop working, forcing a re-boot. The good news is that it comes back to the section that was being edited.
Getting upsold on more capabilities is a bit tiresome, but I have to admit, that I went and did that.
It is slow in adding/editing chapters to your DVD. Pinnacle could have done some programming work to speed that process up.
Be prepared to spend some time using it.
Relatively easy to use. Nice features. Good editing. Despite the buggy performance, and speed issues, I'd still purchase.

5 out of 5 stars A DVD creation tool that actually works   November 9, 2006

This latest version of the Dazzle Vido Creator, coupled with the Pinnacle 10.5 software will give satisfying results to beginning users.

Because the unit does hardware encoding, it is relatively free of the problems typically enountered when attempting to use an underpowered PC to do the rendering. You can, literally with a few clicks, go from a VHS source directly to a DVD burner, and end up with a finished and working DVD. The software is a "lite" version, but it should be sufficient for the average person who just wants to make simple edits.

5 out of 5 stars Work perfectly right out of the box   October 17, 2006

Work perfectly right out of the box.

After just a few minutes of instillation time, I transferred super 8 tape to DVD and had them in the mail to Grandparents that afternoon. After dinner we made our first movie..... it was good fun and product work just as it advertised
