1 out of 5 stars Does not work with Vista   January 8, 2008

Believe the other reviews. This product absolutely and positively does not work with Windows Vista. Even with all of the latest patches from Pinnacle it crashes to a bluescreen every time.

1 out of 5 stars Garbage!   January 2, 2008

This product is junk. Doesn't work with Windows Vista - despite claims that it does, online upgrades had problems with files, and Pinnacle refuses to provide on-line or telephone support for any model related to their 10.xx products. Once it looked like the software might work, the Dazzle crashed my system several times when I attempted to connect it to my computer. Beware of this product, you are much better served to buy a DV cord and connect to your computer directly.

1 out of 5 stars Definately Avoid   December 28, 2007

I am surprised by any of the positive reviews of this item. Especially about the software. This item was a disaster. I am running a dual core AMD processor with 2meg of ram and all the latest XP. Wouldn't work in my Vista system and didn't try to fix it.

The dazzler device connected easily. While recording a mix of videos from VHS and Hi8 tapes the system did not identify any chapters even when there was blank tape between the videos. I created my own chapters and this caused the saved project not to reload. Nothing in the software tells you not to do this although you can. Twice the recordings claimed they were created from an older version of Pinnacle and also would not load. No new pinnacle software was avaialable unless you wanted to pay more it.

The quality of the output to DVD is also not good quality. I tried many different settings and all were very grainy with some groups of lost pixels.

Pinnacle web site is no help. All they want to do is promote purchaing upgrades.

Dazzle may have a good product if they had software to go with it. You cannot use any other software with the recording from the dazzle.

Don't waste your time or money on this item. A lousy Christmas present.

2 out of 5 stars Dazzle Platinum - Mini DV tapes to DVD   December 23, 2007

I have had this product for a month. Set up on my computer and capturing videos from my mini DV camcorder was quite easy using a firewire connection. I am using Windows XP Pro with 2 GB Memory. Editing the movie and adding subtitles was easy but adding music and the more advanced functions were more difficult. Making the movie and burning to a DVD disc was erratic. It would work fine for 20 to 30 minutes into the operation and burning to the DVD disc would then freeze while the making movie part would continue. Once this happens, the DVD drive had difficulty opening and you have to restart your computer to open it and restart the make movie and burn process on a new disc. Eventually it worked. On playback to TV, occassionally the picture would freeze for a second to 20 seconds before it proceed. Most annoying.

1 out of 5 stars One of the Lucky Ones   December 20, 2007

I was lucky enough to have purchased the Dazzle at Circuit City and they refunded my money without question. Dazzle worked just fine on the first 5 tapes I copied and then it quit burning. I tried several different methods to record. I tried to copy to my hard drive and use another program to write it to DVD. I did not use the create chapter function. I used only the Good setting. I changed up DVD types. Something in the Instant DVD software causes the CPU to work at 100%. There's a bug somewhere.
