Lead Paint September 17, 2007 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was shocked to read the following after opening the package: WARNING: This product contains chemicals, including lead, known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
Entire unacceptable--they should recall this product!
Does not work with Vista September 17, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was not able to make it work with the Vista operating system. Down loaded updates and it still crashes. Called tech support and still could not get it to work. I installed it on an XP computer as a test and it did work with XP. If you have a Vista system don't waste your money.
READ if you want to BUY!! September 10, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Okay, this product for those of you that have been having trouble does work. The unfortunate part about it is that it does not come with an instruction manual thus it will lead you to ruin many discs and think that it sucks. In part they could have done a better job with the wizard and the ease of use for the whole thing but unfortunately for them they didn't so they get a 2 because; Product is not easy to use (more explanation below) Product does not have a manual Interferes or has problems with other programs Isn't the current program-studio 11 Doesn't put movies or other things on ipod as it states it does Doesn't always burn properly Alright those are the cons but the thing does work if you are willing to read on I can explain some useful tips to help you out if you want something to take those store bought films and make them dvds or other things you wish to record like home video and tv shows onto DVD. Alright the main thing you have to be concern with is first does your disk have enough space on it for the film. Even though the product will tell you yes be sure to check with another program like Nero, Copy to DVD etc. Alright before you begin though make sure the time to record is set for the length of the movie ie 90min or something not the standard 10min that it is set at to begin with. Next DON'T do a straight burn if you are not sure that the media ie your disc dvd will have enough space. This is where everyone gets hung up and ruin a lot of discs and turn them into coasters or frisbies whatever your heart desires to do when you ruin one. Anyways if it is under 93 minutes I find that the Verbatim digital movies work great if set on the BEST quality mode. HOWEVER if you go adding a menu with sound and a picture to customize it and make it better beware that you WILL NOT have enough space to burn!!! So check the timer set to burn and the disk space if you are going to do a direct burn but if not just store it on your hard drive and then put it on a DVD that is a sure way you won't waste any dvds. Also if you have certain programs this might interfere with them. I had a program and the studio seemed to reconfigure it not a big deal since I called the company of the other software and told them about it and they said that can happen so I am fixing it with them. Anyways it isn't a bad program just can be a handful if you go into it blindly so I hope these tidbits help. I give it an overall of 2 1/2 stars but really the studio program isn't the best out there and that is why they are not number one. I have heard Adobe works great but it cost more. Oh well you get what you pay for...need I say more. I hope this helped you all out there. Later, Woodywood pecker.
Don't waste your time and money September 6, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I regret that I bought this product. The entire stack seems very buggy. The video tape I'm trying to digitize is somewhat old and with poor quality, and this causes the Dazzle to bail out. This happens sometimes with my KiSS PVR as well, say after an hour or so. The Dazzle didn't keep the sync for more than 2 minutes.
Stack of ruined DVDs, hours of wasted time. August 25, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was really excited about this product--but what a disappointment. I wanted to surprise my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary by converting all their old VHS tapes to DVD. What I ended up with is a two inch stack of ruined DVDs and HOURS of wasted time. The system constantly crashed in the middle of the conversion process, rendering the DVD in process useless, and I would have to start over. This usually occurred about an hour or so into the process, so it was very frustrating and time consuming. Also, each time it crashed, I would be unable to close the program, so I would have to restart my computer to start over. I tried all trouble shooting suggestions. I tried to burn directly onto my hard drive, and it still crashed in the midsts of the process. I was able to get a 18 minute clip of one VHS video on my hard drive. I immediately tried to edit that clip using the Studio 10 program that came with Dazzle, as I was excited to try it out, but Studio 10 did not recognize that file type. What's the point of selling these to products together if they are not compatible?
I contacted tech support twice, and got one response, where the tech asked me to give him more information about my computer. I responded to him immediately, and after waiting 4 days, I received no further responses. I tried to chat with "Live Help" 3 times, and after waiting 20 to 30 minutes each time, I would be told that no one is there that can help me.
Also, my program came with a bonus CD that was supposed to allow me to view my movies on my iPod, but it would not install--as if it was a blank CD.
Please do not buy this product. I am taking mine back to the store tonight. I'm reading reviews on similar products that I can try. I wish I would have done this before I bought Dazzle. I hope this saves someone the time and money.
