1 out of 5 stars Horrible, and don't bother trying to get your refund   April 24, 2008

Gee, it looks pretty. Doesn't work. Tried an entire day to get it to recognize my simple, 2 computer network. Trashed it, bought BitDefender, had no further problems.
Except with TrendMicro. They advertise a 30 day Money Back Guarantee, which is nonsense. I followed their arcane instructions to request one (several times) and was repeatedly sent an email with a link, and told to click on "request refund" at that link. There isn't one! There is also no way to contact a person, either by email or on the phone: they are strictly auto emails and voice mail that redirects you to the web.
I paid half price for this piece of junk thanks to a discount deal with my company. I'm glad I only lost half the asking price, but really, it's not worth anything.
If you insist on trying this s/w, for pete's sake, try the free trial---that way, you won't be out money if it doesn't work on your computer.

I am satisfied with this product because it is fast and cheap and gives license to 3 PC's

1 out of 5 stars What a nightmare! This is horrible software   April 16, 2008

A warning to anyone thinking of buying this software - DON'T DO IT! I have previous versions of Trend products on several machines that I have been very satisfied with, so when I got my new laptop (intel dual core, 2G ram, 160G harddrive), the first thing I installed was the latest and greatest from Trend.

Immediately I started having mystery problems with the machine - it was dog slow, I couldn't keep more than a couple of programs open at a time, I'd get "insufficient resources" or "not enough quota" errors, and most disconcerting, random video errors where text would simply not display in windows and dialog boxes. I spent six weeks wasting time trying to track down problems, installing Microsoft patches, adjusting system settings, searching for memory leaks and even going so far as to have the laptop manufacturer replace the RAM. Nothing cured the problem, and worst of all, when the errors would happen, there was no record in the task manager of problems - no RAM consumption, no CPU hogging, no thread tie-ups - NOTHING. I didn't even consider that Trend could be the source of the problem - why should I, their previous products had been excellent, right?

Finally, as a last resort before reformatting the drive, I tried taking Trend out of the boot list (not just turning it off after boot, but making sure it doesn't run at all during boot) and guess what? NO MORE PROBLEMS!!!

Ever since I removed Trend Internet Security 2008 I've had no problems, real dual-core performance and no abnormal video or resource issues. I've been using Avast for virus protection, which has a very small footprint, and it's FREE.

So, in review, even if you've had good luck with Trend products in the past, AVOID TREND INTERNET SECURITY 2008 LIKE THE PLAGUE. If you've got Trend 2008 and any sort of inexplicable system behavior problems, try taking all Trend executibles out of the boot list and see what a difference it makes. Don't lose time and productivity like I did.

5 out of 5 stars Better than most antivurs!   April 13, 2008

I'm a fan of trend micro antiviruses. And is better than norton, kaspersky, panda, etc. For me at least! Is simple, functional, is always up to date, and really protect your notebook from everything bad. And work faster than other do

5 out of 5 stars Great. Less strain on system resources   April 11, 2008

After using Norton, McAfee, etc. that came preinstalled on my computers, I have settled down on Trend Micro in the past three years. I found Trend Micro to be the only security suite that would work well with both my old and new computers. Trend Micro compared to other leading brands, keeps memory consumption to a minimum. This latest version (2008) works well with your latest software such as Office 2007. Installation was intelligent, it asked me to exit Microsoft Outlook and also asked me to uninstall (Lavasoft Adaware 2007). In sum, TrendMicro is superb at catching virus and spyware.
