I purchased this software sight unseen last November when it was released. I held off installing as long as I could after reading early reviews. Finally had to cave yesterday and I quickly remembered why I was so happy to move to Mac from Microsoft.
Once installed, you are greeted by a LARGE service pack doesn't install. Yeah! way to go Microsoft. Guess I'll just have to live with the security threats built into the "fully redesigned" product. But the biggest immediate complaint is that the new .docx word format can't be easily opened by those with Word prior to 2007...at least easily.....now, isn't that why we have all be beholden to the MS franchise....interoperability? Guess we are now free of that!!!!!

Good product; fast; easy to navigate. Emulates in most ways the Windows product. Needs some refinement and small tweaks to match the current MS Office for Windows...but significant improvement over earlier MAC edition. Recommend to buy for Intell based MACs.

there are a lot of things missing in this edition, i guess Microsoft great success with VISTA is making this create terrible products. IF you hate vista, trust me .. don't buy office 2008 for mac and go for i works 2008

I really needed Microsoft Office for my Mac computer as Microsoft Word is a great word processing program. However, the 2008 edition saves the documents in a different format (docx rather than doc) causing people with older versions of Microsoft Word to be unable to open the documents I send to them. This has been a tremendous inconvenience because I normally do a lot of work at home. I cannot compose documents in the 2008 Microsoft Word and know for sure that other students or peers that I work with will be able to use them.

I ordered the Microsoft Office/ Home and Student program through Amazon for my new MacBook, trying to save a little money on an expensive program. The program appeared to be used (when it was advertised as "NEW" ) as evidenced by the suspicious seal that barely adhered to the box and one of the downloads that wouldn't download, reading as already used. I returned it for a refund.
