2 out of 5 stars Tow Truck Dispatcher loves program HATES the map   September 21, 2007

I'm a wrecker dispatcher outside the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I've been using Streets and Trips since 03 or 04. I use the program all day long. The program itself is great. I can map several addresses in seconds. The problem I have is ,Every year the map gets worse. It's good at finding the road but finding the numerics on the road sticks. I cannot pull up the numerics on My business on the Main Street in this town of over 30,000. I've been in my house for 3 years. I know the house has been there for 2 years before that. I can still not pull up my own street and I live just outside of Fort Worth. I think microsoft thinks its more important to know where every hole in the wall resturant is than pulling up an exact address. I do think this program is better than the other maps I've seen and I think Microsoft is a great company. I hope Microsoft reads this and decides to fix their numeric problems. Unless some one builds a better map, I'll be buying Streets & Trips 2009.

4 out of 5 stars Similar to previous versions   September 17, 2007

This program is very helpful in planning trips. I did find though, that the program is VERY similar to previous versions. The only thing that I can think of that would be good about buying this program is the updates. I have been using MapPoint 2002 for years with minimal problems with outdated information. Stick to the cheapest version.

It is an easy to use map program with no need to be online. I keep it on my laptop. But you do have to register it within 60 days.

I have been purchasing the program for the past three years and have seen continuous improvement in it. I mainly use it for navigation using GPS with my laptop. The 2008 version has added some nice features among the best is the automatic recalculate feature when you vary from the route set up by the progrram.

As with any program, there are a few glitches regarding street accessability, names etc. Thses have been referred to Microsoft for correction.

All in all, it is a great program.

1 out of 5 stars STICK WITH THE 2007 EDITION   September 11, 2007

The 2008 edition of Microsoft Streets and Trips with traffic updates is next to worthless. I have purchased both Micrsoft Streets and Trips and Delorme Street Atlas USA each year for several years. I much prefer Streets and Trips for ease of use.

I paid $175 for the 2008 edition with the FM traffic reciever. I've had nothing but problems with it. I normally keep a copy on my office desktop computer, one on my portable laptop, and one on my laptop which is installed/mounted in my business vehicle. This arrangement allowed me to plot and plan routes and save the maps onto a memory stick for use in my vehicle.

I've had nothing but problems with this new program. I've uninstalled it and will revert back to the 2007 edition and the old hardware. Sign me
Disgusted in Seattle.
