Microsoft Office Professional 2007 FULL VERSION March 27, 2007 3 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was most pleased with the fast install of this program. This version comes with two DVD's... I only needed to use one DVD to install everything for my home use. The install took under 10 minutes from me opening the package to everything ready to go. Not like the old install time with multiple CD's (or if you are old enough to remember, installing from 1.44 meg floppies, YIKES) So far I have been using WORD and EXCEL, but I haven't explored Access as of yet, and I don't use Outlook at home. Word and Excel have worked fine, had to explore a little to find some of the commands I normally use.

Never recieved this product. Seller is not trustworthy. Amazon has not fulfilled their AtoZ guarantee. Had to contact bank to retrieved the refund.
Expensive and horrible March 16, 2007 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
Basically, as been said before, its like a dull pencil. You basically cant use it. You have to hunt around for features in menus that you would normally find by enabling a few toolbars. For this much money, this version of office is pretty bad. I doesnt support legacy plugins properly nor does is support pdf output properly. They also changed that clunky PDF knockoff to another extension....again.
Basically, its not worth upgrading to 2007. If your an office hardcore user like me, you will not appreciate the new interface. What would of been acceptable is to have the ability to change to the classic interface. THEN, MS would succeed in its plan to draw more users.
Currently, MS is drawing NEW users, not more users to its products because of the radical and (most of the time) unproductive changes to its software and worst yet, they leave it at that static state.
So they get new users, but they loose the old ones.....how smart.
If they dont release a patch soon that does this, they will see that nobody is buying this product.
If they are still trying to figure out why their 07 marketing campaign was ill received, they should really fire some people and start listening to veteran users, since they are really the majority.
probably a good version for 'newbies'... UPDATED March 16, 2007 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
Yup, it's been dumbed down to the point where someone like myself who has been using Word for twenty years will be pounding their keyboard in frustration.
But... the Contextual Spell Check is AMAZING. I'm a writer. One of my tasks is to wade through 150,000 word documents searching for 'they're' and 'their', 'to, too and two', 'its and it's', etc. It's a process that takes a whole day, since you have to sort of read every sentence that gets flagged. If you've done this, you know what I'm talking about. The contextual spell check does this without thinking. I transfered a work in progress from word 2003 and the first time I ran the check, it went through and removed all the misplaced words--even ones that I don't regularly check for.
The Contextual Spell Check is so good that I still might buy 2007 after my trial version runs out. And that says a lot, considering how disappointed I am with the rest of the program. Developers seem to have decided to take features out this time--maybe so they can put them back in in office 2010, and look like heroes? I don't know.
Best I can say about this is download the free trial, and decide for yourself. It won't be an easy decision.
UPDATE-- I found a third party addin that will show the classic menus in office 2007--
[...] If that link does not work, search google for 'addin classic menu office 2007" and you will find it. I downloaded the trial version and installed. The classic menus appear in place of the ribbon. Don't 'minimize ribbon' or you won't see them. You can also add the classic menus to a pop up arrow on the quick acess toolbar by right-clicking on the new 'all' topic in the classic menus.
Seems to work pretty good. At least I can find most things now. Of course, you still can't get to features that Microsoft removed. As far as I can see, you can't move the toolbars around or make a custom one.
I give this addon a thumbs up. :)
Performance sucks! Not worth the money! March 13, 2007 51 out of 64 found this review helpful
I installed Office 2007 Professional right after it came out. Unfortunately the overall performance sucks. Outlook is almost unusable. Most actions take three times as long as they used to take in Outlook 2003. The interface is radically different and takes forever to get used to. I recommend to stick with Office 2003 or to get OpenOffice.
