2 out of 5 stars For Now It's A Nuisance   April 3, 2007

Far from user-friendly, you will be at the office later at night tearing out your hair trying to find the buttons on the tool bar for even the simplest of office tasks, wondering "Why did I get this program again?" Its like reading another language after using previous editions of Word, which I was a big fan of. I guess with some extensive getting used to the it might be nice but for now it's a nuisance. I can't find anything on this toold bar that looks like an airplane cockpit. In the words of Thoreau "Simplify."
Good luck sending files as attachments to colleagues-they won't be able to view the newere version. Get used to saving in "97-2003 Word Format." Also, won't comply with other programs such as e-fax unless saved in this manner. At this price, you could do without the headache.

4 out of 5 stars Great once you get used to the infamous ribbon   April 3, 2007

I really like the '07 version...now that I have gotten used to the infamous menu ribbon. At first it seemed like nothing was where it used to be (it's not!) and I had to hunt for everything, but now that I have been using it for a few days I believe this version is a great improvement over past Office suites. There is also the free PDF plug-in, that I have used many times already, that has you thinking what took Microsoft so long. There are many more great points as well, such as font preview which allows you to see what your text will look like just by hovering over the font name in the drop down menu, also an improved right-click short-cut menu. Outlook now has your calendar and to-do list on the right side of the screen and the ability to categorize things using color codes. Excel has a great new sort feature. My only complaint would be that Outlook does seem a bit slower now, but the benefits far outweigh the bad. Now if I could just convince my technology shy co-workers of this.

I THINK 07 IS AN IMPROVEMENT OVER 03. I AM NOT AN OFFICE GEEK, BUT NEED TO USE THE PROGRAM TO ACCOMPLISH MY WORK. IT IS EASIER TO GET THE JOB DONE WITH THIS NEW VERSION. INTUITIVE THOUGHT PROCESSES WORK WITH IT. I LIKE IT AND AM HAPPY WITH IT.

1 out of 5 stars Can't get anything done using Office 2007   March 31, 2007

I am an experienced Office user. I recently updgraded from Office 2003 (which worked great) to Office 2007 and now I am much less productive.

Office 2007 is pretty but if you actually have to get something done at work DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT.

I was most pleased with the fast install of this program. This version comes with two DVD's... I only needed to use one DVD to install everything for my home use. The install took under 10 minutes from me opening the package to everything ready to go. Not like the old install time with multiple CD's (or if you are old enough to remember, installing from 1.44 meg floppies, YIKES)
So far I have been using WORD and EXCEL, but I haven't explored Access as of yet, and I don't use Outlook at home. Word and Excel have worked fine, had to explore a little to find some of the commands I normally use.
