The Doc's view June 12, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The MS Small Business 2007 is fantastic. I like the appearance and the MANY tools and applications that can be used to create professional presentations, work on spread sheets or just send an E-mail which also has great features.
I give it 5 stars and recommend it for small business users, students and individuals.
office software/ powerpoint June 9, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
bought it for my son's sixth grade project for the powerpoint software.( he loves a pc for gaming) he was rapidly able to negotiate the program once given a basic overview how to. interestingly, it couldn't handle quicktime files that i created in final cut pro. had to convert to avi format then no problem. The final presentation was really nice. great transitions. no major problems. however, I still think that keynote/ apple presentations are the best.

Excellent product and improvements. I particularly like the way Microsoft has positioned the navigation/utility buttons at the top - very intuitive. Everything is in one place - no guessing where to find it!
However, you must remember that when "sharing" your documents with people who do not have Office 2007, you must save it as Office 97-2003 or they won't be able to open it.
As usual, Microsoft has made this task easy.
Functionality excellent; opening and installing a problem April 13, 2007 16 out of 20 found this review helpful
I've been using the beta for a while now, so I know that I like Office 2007. PowerPoint 2007 is especially exciting and new; Word and Excel don't seem that different to me.
However, I just bought the full version and I COULDN'T OPEN IT! I felt stupid until I found out that I wasn't alone. Even with instructions that I found on the Web, I had to call Microsoft. There's a transparent label over the top that you need to remove before you can pull the red tab to open the box, but you can't remove the label without tearing the Certificate of Authenticity on top (which I might want if I ever sold it). In the end, I had to take the point of a scissors and squeeze it between the cracks on either side to slit the sides open.
Next, I put the CD in the drive and nothing happened. I've never knowingly turned off autorun (this is a Vista machine). I had to go into Windows Explorer and double-click setup.exe.
Finally, there are two disks, but no clue anywhere that I can find what the second one is for or what it contains. The installation instructions only mention one disk.
It was a frustrating beginning.
Runs much too slow April 12, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I am a long time and heavy MS Office user. I have a 2-year old computer with 1-gig of ram. My operating system is XP. I installed Office Small Business 2007 and found it running very slow even after doing all updates. I have uninstalled the program and gone back to Office 2000. Ahh, what a relief!
A key problem for me was if I had 2 different Word documents open or a Word and Excel document open and I wanted to switch back and forth between them--I'd get an hourglass for 30 seconds or more! With Office 2000 there is no delay at all. Also, having to "Save As" a version that I can email to others just seems dumb. Extra steps in my work day are not wanted;-)
There are many features such as using Autosum, Spell Check or Insert which require extra clicks to get to in 2007 as well. Things are arranged in tabs so you have to click on the Format tab then click Auto Sum. Later if you want to do something else you have to find that tab and then click on the feature you want.
Other issues; the programs take quite a while to open initially, I color areas in spread sheets a lot. In 2000 I can pull the pallet down and access any color in 1 click. 2007 does not allow this (so at least 2 clicks are needed) and there are less colors available (unless you perform 3 clicks to get to get to the expanded pallet).
