CD Stomp Label maker October 22, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Prior to Avery taking over this wonderful labeling system it was the best around. The new paper sheet system gets stuck in my printer and I have three of them (printers), I wish that they would have left "greatness" alone and just changed the product name. This new system is totally unreliable and from time to time useless. Mitch Zorich
Cheapest quality I've ever seen! June 7, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's becoming more and more difficult to find quality CD labels at a decent price, but this product is NOT the answer.
Firstly, it's one of those products where they create labels for the "label maker", then one or two years later they change the "label maker" and it requires a new format for the labels. You can't find labels for the old label "stomper".
Secondly, the paper quality for these labels is abyssmal. I've yet to successfully remove the label from the paper without having the center section tear out. The software is NOT good either. I wasted about eight sheets of labels before I could get it correctly calibrated to my printer, and the bottom labels still don't print correctly. Doesn't matter, I guess, since they tear anyway.
Not a professional product at all.
Disaster on Macs OS X February 13, 2005 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This used to work well on OS 9. It is worse than worthless on OS X. The internet downloads do not work either. Stomper is a "has-been" for Mac users
Mac users need not apply February 5, 2005 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Sorry this is so long, but I am very annoyed. Too bad there is no zero star rating, because this product would get it from me. This product DOES NOT work on a Mac with OS X. I have used this product with windows machines and it worked fine, but it does not work on a Mac with OS X. A search in the Macaddict.com forums revealed that many others had this problem too. When I contacted support, the response was "Our current version is operable through Mac OS 10.3. [No!] Secondly, the majority of Mac users are very creative. Most of the time, they are creating their own templates."
Two things here.
One: They are not going to admit that their product doesn't work on the Mac because they do not intend on upgrading the software and they are not going to remove the Mac-compatible logo from the box. As far as I'm concerned, this is false advertising.
Two: Software that requires a work-around straight out of the box is VAPORWARE, and a rip off.
Don't buy this. 'Nuff said.
OK in Classic September 6, 2004 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I, too, had trouble getting the software to launch in OS X. A call to the tech support line, while not free, was fast and they emailed me a patch for Classic use. They promised a native OS X app CD would be mailed to me in a week. Everything works fine in Classic.
