1 out of 5 stars It was not a LEXAR CompactFlash adapter but a PQI   May 22, 2008
I received my CompactFlash adapter today (3 days after having placed the order ...so far so good!) but it was not a Lexar adapter but a PQI. I chose the Lexar for the performance and I received an unknown adapter!!! Besides, this adapter should be an old one because this product is not present anymore on the PQI web site. I hate to order one thing and to receive another one .... Lexar Media CompactFlash Card Adapter (CFAD-003)

5 out of 5 stars Works perfect. A must have for your laptop.   August 10, 2005

Tired of transferring pictures from your digital camera by digging for a cable? Then this is a must have!

You just pop in a Compact Flash card, and put the card adapter into your PCMCIA slot in your computer. Windows XP automatically recognizes the card as a new "disk drive". You click on the drive just like you would your other hard drives. I have also used this with varying size Compact Flash cards and have not found any that it won't read. Reading of data seems to be very fast, depending only on the Compact Flash card you use. (Some Compact Flash cards are faster than others, but the adapter does not seem to slow down data transfer at all.)

For me, this is much easier than hooking up a cable to transfer pictures. As an accessory that will make your life easier, this is a great deal both in function and cost!

THis is a good investment (of $7) for those who are having laptop and camera/player which uses CF card. Just insert the card , that's it .. Transfer rate is much more better than USB card readers ... Here you don't need to carry the USB card reader or cables .. Just keep this card reader inside PCMCIA slot always .... Sometime it generates heat but no need to worry about that ... it's because the laptop itself get heated while working for more than 30minutes continusley ...Thanks

5 out of 5 stars Works great with my PowerBook   February 17, 2005

I needed a CompactFlash PCMCIA adapter to use for transferring files to and from my old PowerBook 1400c without having to mess around with networks or floppy disks. This one works perfectly, with no additional software required under Mac OS 8. I currently use it with a spare Canon CompactFlash card. Transfer speed seems to be very good.

5 out of 5 stars I didn't know much I needed this!   January 13, 2005

I used to carry my USB card reader when I travel to download/backup the photos to my laptop. No more! This GREAT adapter holds the CF card and slides into my Apple G4 Powerbook's PC card slot. The card shows up on the desktop just like any other peripheral device and I can copy the pictures, add things to the card, or do anything I could do with my USB reader. It is about the same speed as my reader - copied 100 MB in about a minute. This was only $7.99 and takes up NO space...it fits flush with the side of my laptop without sticking out. I didn't need to download a driver or anything, just plugged it in and I was ready to go. What a tip!
