5 out of 5 stars Great tool for the whole family   July 5, 2007

I got it out of the box, set up the "home" feature and my two adult son's took it with them on a West Coast road trip to watch 5 major league games from San Diego to Seattle. They totally relied on it. I use it every day for work as I travel the largest geographic county in the United States. I only have one minor regret... It doesn't operate on batteries for use away from a 12 volt power source. Oh well, being 99% pleased with a product is pretty hard to top. Great work, Garmin.

4 out of 5 stars Great product and time saver   July 3, 2007

I bought this when we were moving to Houston and it has saved me countless hours of getting lost in a city with plenty of roads to get lost in. Out of the box I had a minor hiccup in trying to locate Satellites but a reboot of the unit cured that. After that it was smooth sailing to get the product up and working. Directions are clear and most addresses can be easily found. I have used this in Houston and Calgary, Canada with great results

I would say 90% of the time I have no issues with this product and it works great.
Pros: easy to use, accurate mostly, clear spoken directions, good price, lots of features

Now for the cons.

Sometimes gets confused when roads are close together, takes about 20 seconds to get a satellite lock when turned on, maps are a bit dated so you can't find newer addresses and some of the businesses it locates for you have moved on.

All in all a great investment.

5 out of 5 stars Best $400 I ever spent   July 3, 2007

Wonderful, took it all over northern California including the bay area and mountains east, it even took us on forest roads and never got lost during the two weeks in unfamiliar areas. My mother was absolutely amazed and thinks someone live somewhere programs each trip.

Too small and miss the battery back-up. GPS seems to miss-route and take you out of the way. Yet it does get you there!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars A lifesaver ...   June 28, 2007
Although I would have to read the instructions to do all that I want this unit to do, I have really loved the Garmin. It hasn't been wrong yet - although it (aka, "Gloria") did get a little confused when there was construction (to be expected) - and I have stress-free driving. So many cool features ... I am a proud owner.
