5 out of 5 stars Another great gadget   May 30, 2008
If you run or bike, and are a tech weenie, this is a great add-on gadget! Analyze, amaze your friends, be smug about your training. Nice tool.

4 out of 5 stars Great product, but could be better...   May 26, 2008
I purchased a Forerunner 205 about a month ago. It is a fantastic training aid and has motivated me to work out more and better than ever before. My only complaints with this product are:
First, the elevation stats are so far off they are useless. I am in Texas where it is very flat, yet my Forerunner reports that I gain and drop 1,200 feet in elevation over a three-mile run!
Second, I would like to be able to see more detailed maps in the training center software. You can do a lot of pre-planning in the software, but it's very difficult to plot out a course or route if you can only see major roads and highways-- the only way to get the increased detail is to spend even more to buy MapSource separately, so you'll end up nearly doubling your cost if you want to get the most out of your Forerunner.
Third and final complaint is the lack of information in the help file. For instance, your course is represented by a series of yellow dots in the map page of the software, with one blue dot. I haven't found anywhere in the manual that explains what this blue dot is... is it supposed to be the halfway point? Probably, but why make me guess?
These issues are annoying but not a major factor to me, so overall I really love my Forerunner.

5 out of 5 stars Great training aid   May 20, 2008
I am training for a rollerblade marathon, and this device is a great aid. I can get my speed, total distance, and time in addition to using the pacing feature that lets me compare my pace to a previous run. Although it is large, it is fairly comfortable, and the reception is surprisingly good. For what it does, I don't think it is too pricy, and I don't know what I would do without it.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin Forerunner 205   May 20, 2008
This is a great watch!! I have run a few times with a friend who has the 201 and my 205 was always accurate. Hers was off by about .25 miles every time.

5 out of 5 stars Garmin 205   May 19, 2008
Pros:
The Garmin 205 is lite, durable and accurate. The quad screen is large enough to see even on nite runs.
Cons:
The rubber wrist band is too stiff. Can not figure out how to save runs...the book was not very helpful...had to call support.
