MAGELLAN TRAFFICKIT FOR ROADMATE & CROSSOVER GPS July 25, 2008 This did not work, I activated the traffic and went on I95 and got stuck in a 5 mile traffic backup. The radio stations all had the accident but the Traffickit was saying NO INCIDENTS ON THE ROUTE!!
Works in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. January 31, 2008 I have been using this now for a little over a month. My only complaint may be based more on the base unit rather than the traffic kit. It does not seem to look very far ahead, so by the time it shows a traffic tie-up, I am often already in it.
The suggested detours have been very handy at times. It has come up with some imaginative ways around downtown Dallas that I never would have considered before.
The reason I went with this combo is that many other GPSs required compatible cell phones and none of them seemed to work with mine. While this one does require a subscription, at least I don't have to base my choice of cell phones on whether or not it will work with my GPS.
Same problem January 19, 2008 I made the mistake of only reading the reviews for the crossover GPS unit and missed the ones here.
I live in Baltimore and have the same problem the unit appears to be getting signal but the only message it ever comes back with is 'no traffic events detected'. I was on a trip to San Francisco last week and it did work there. So it seems to only work in certain cities.
The tech support said I was the first to report such a problem? I guess they have no record of all these other reviewers problems (or maybe it was just a lie - nah tech support would never lie would they?)
Traffickit doesn't work December 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I recently purcahsed a TrafficKit for my Maestro 4040. I have driven to several cities after activating the unit and it doesn't work. Calling Magellan technical service is a joke. The do not tell the truth, don't understand what you are talking about and do not carry out their promises.
I am going to return the unit as it is worthless.
Completely useless in Chicago but great in LA November 21, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I should have paid attention to earlier reviews. I activated the subscription, set it to show any type of event and in 3 weeks driving routes around Chicago metro it has sat there. The icon says it is apparently active and yet it has not shown a single warning. It has set routes down freeways the same radio station says are stationary and NOTHING. Totally useless. Took it to LA, with the Traffic Kit as it does at least provide a good charging stand!!. Guess what it was picking up alerts and acting on them within 2 minutes although the traffic status display was identical to what I see in Chicago where it has never received anything.
