better, but October 9, 2008 I first owned a Street Pilot 350 which is the large unit....it was ok, but took routes that I knew to be circuitous and unnecessary sometimes...it also didn't have updated maps for my area... Now I have the Nuvi 350 which has good mapping, better routing, screen brightness, and is much smaller....The only thing that I really don't like is the volume of the voice directions. Even at the loudest volume, it can't be heard very well, and forget about having music on when your trying to listen to it! I was told by Garmin that the street pilot 350 because of the size; the speakers were on the side and now the nuvi 350 speaker(s) are on the back...maybe that has something to do with it...but still, I don't see how this unit is ok with most people because of the volume thing....
Generally good but have some drawbacks October 9, 2008 To use this GPS is quite easy, here I just would like to point out some of its cons. 1. It does not have a next turn arrow at the bottom of the screen to help you decide which lane you should drive on. At the time the voice tell you "in point 3 miles turn right/left at...", sometimes you do not have enough time to change the lane. to learn the turn direction in advance, you must touch the screen at bottom right, sometimes it's disturbing and making you not being able to concentrate while driving. (I'm a new driver) 2. The time to accquire the satellite signal when you travel to another place is quite slow, sometimes it takes 10 minutes or even longer. 3. It only remember the state of the address you input last time, not the city, each time you need to input your city even most of the time you just travel in the same city. It'll be better for it to be able to remember the several cities you inputted in the same state and let you choose.
This is the first GPS I bought. I used some of my friends' before, no one is perfect. For the money I paid for this one ($200), I think it's quite fair.
LOVE IT!!! October 9, 2008 I get lost everywhere, even following directions. This product is a lifesaver and is so easy to use, easy to follow, and shows you and tells you the route to take. We highly recommend it!
Garmin Nuvi 350 3.5 Portable GPS Navigator October 8, 2008 We liked it so much that we purchased one for our daughter and son-in-law and for our son. They are, also, extremely happy with this product.
Great vacation companion October 8, 2008 The Garmin 350 was great to have on our vacation to Colorado. It guided us all of the way and helped us find our cabin when we were out one night after dark. We had taken a wrong turn coming out of Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park and had no idea where we were. The Garmin took us straight to the cabin.
