5 out of 5 stars Great little GPS   March 19, 2007

Garmin has a great name when it comes to GPS and Navigation. I am enjoying this little system. Compact, loaded with lots of information and can do a lot more than just get you to your destination. There are several packages you can buy and download. (They are rather expensive though.) I especially like the voice prompts that tells you which street to turn on. It helps keep my eyes on the road rather than on the screen. In todays driving... with all the other destractions on the road... that's a good thing. I ordered a mount for my Harley and it works great on my motorcycle. It is a little harder to read in the bright sunlight though. Just remember to put it away if it starts to rain. This particular model is not waterproof. (But, I can do that.) Being battery powered is a plus too. Small enough to fit in my pocket with a nice little leather case, when I am in a strange city checking out the sights on foot... I can always find my way back to my hotel. I'm going see if it will get me back to my truck in the airport parking lot after 4 or 5 days on the road. (NOW... Where did I park my truck this week.) As a pilot... we use GPS Navigation all the time now. The tech. is great... I am always amazed at how those who make these things can get all that information into that little box. Garmin offers a free update with your purchase and you can sign up for future updates when they come for a small price. A complete manual can be downloaded when you hook it up to your computer. It's pretty handy and I am enjoying it.

This was a gift for my wife, a realtor, and she absolutely loves the product. She travels all over the city for business and she finds it invaluable when she gets a last minute call to see a property while she is out. The fact that she has shown some properties in relatively new areas that were already inputed into the Garmin has been a big plus - even the Hertz Never-Lost can't do better in this aspect. Her only complaint, vs. Never-Lost, is that the unit doesn't give as much of an advanced turn warning.

5 out of 5 stars You'll never be lost   March 18, 2007

I am a newbee with GPS devices and I am awed. It may be one thing to be somewhat critical of the route when you are playing with the device in familiar territory (although the routes are not all that bad). But when you are completely strange to an area and don't know where you're going, it's uncanny with the accuracy of getting you to a destination. The pronounciation of street names where you are to turn, and the ability to view the configuration of the intersection or route direction is awesome. Its ability to speak in many languages, its translator, its conversion tables, its many unique features are unbelievable. I highly recommend the device.

I have used this device in a number of states while renting vehicles and driving in places I was not familiar with. The Garmin worked flawlessly and really made a difference: no more trying to read signs at night or with the vehicle light on to read the mapquest printout. Clearly intelligible directions and great graphics. I look forward to buying this for myself
