Great product. Superior maps compared to Tom Tom.
When buying a GPS such as this one, think in terms of 1) How good is the software, menus etc., and how good/up-to-date/complete are the maps. The hardware of the unit is secondary.
I wish it had been about a third of the price though. I think I'll own this product for a long time.

The Garmin Nuvi is my security blanket. I have no sense of direction. If a road is closed, and I have to take a detour, I'm in a panic. But no longer! With my Garmin Nuvi, I just press "Go Home." And I hear that confident voice, which I know will take me home. The GPS is with us whenever we go on vacation, and it takes us to wherever we wish to be. I've bought three of these, one for each of our cars, and one for my Dad. My only complaint is that it often takes some time to find the "satellite," during which searching period, I remind myself that we really should still keep maps in the cars. BTW, our friend bought a really cheap GPS, and it's not worth it. These Garmin Nuvis have really come down in price, and in my opinion, they are worth the extra money

I purchased this navigation device for a long trip and it performed admirably! The screen is just the right size and does not dominate the windshield. The graphics are great and easy to follow. I really like the accessories that came with the system. I highly recommend this product.
best GPS for the price May 3, 2008
There is a reason this is the #1 selling GPS on Amazon it just works well overall. It is easy to use and says the names of the streets, you can see the screen well, it isn't too bulky and the price is right. Of course if you want bluetooth and wanna talk on the phone on your GPS this isn't for you but I could care less about those things.

Just talked to their customer service, they DON'T give free map upgrade to any previous purchase even within 1 day old. They just guarantee new maps when purchased.
