More than expected January 11, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This GPS unit does way more than I expected. I have been using a Garmin eTrex Legend. This unit is more functional in those situations where heavy tree cover may cause older units a problem getting satelite signals. I am still learning, but so far very happy.
LOVE IT January 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This GPS is great! Rated a top toy, we would have to agree. It has millions of features and that may also be it's one drawback--a little overwhelming because of all the features. We use it hiking, but you can also use it in the car, for geocaching etc. Great!! Plus amazon has the best price we found!!
Wow! January 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was a little intimidated by this GPS when I first got it- it's my first GPS and it has very few buttons to perform many different functions. After 5 minutes or so, I discovered that this GPS is incredibly easy to use, incredibly accurate(I'm stunned), and has functions to do so much! Download a waypoint from [...], and the 60CSX will give you step by step instructions how to get there, telling you when to turn, which way to turn- it's amazing. I put it to the test in a major city, and the directions were fantastic. Definitely a great buy for rookie and pro alike!
GPS60CSX January 10, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I already owned a GPS60CS(2003) and had enjoyed the use of it for exploring gorges and trails near Ithaca, NY. Used magnet antenna to obtain good satellites. This method was a nuisance and often failed. A partner had a 60CSX and obtained satellites when I couldn't so I bought the 60CSX and have been very happy. Amazon shipping prompt, satellites obtained easily even inside my house or thru clothing. Stable and durable and in my judgement a very fine instrument. Well worth waiting for the improvement by Garmin and no regrets re the cost of another GPS.
I now use the 60CS on my bicycle where there is never difficulty with reception.
Garmins best yet January 10, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have been buying Garmin GPS for over 11 years beginning with a "45" and have owned several, Plus II, etrex, summit, foretrex 201. They just get better and cheaper. Before mapping GPS I used an IPAC and software to download maps and tracks - too much trouble. The 60cxs is the ultimate outdoor GPS and very adequate for highway and town. The size is a perfect match between weight and readability, the GPS is optimized to a minimum number simple operations, electronic compass and altimeter, the screen and maps are gorgeous and the ability to buy a pre-programmed chip is brillant and cheaper than my first Garmin 45. I have speciality uses for the Foretrex 201 and the Summit but the 60cxs is a real keeper.
