Great GPS February 5, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had my Garmin 205 for 5 months now. Previously I owned the Timex bodylink which I used for about 3 years. I decided to upgrade to the 205 and I have not been disappointed. The timex body link and the 205 seem to give me the mile alert at the same spots on my usual runs - they're both reasonably accurate. As soon as I received the watch I updated the GPS software from garmin's website. I highly recommend this since several people had issues with satellite lock and the subsequent software updates seem to correct this. The watch finds satellites within about 30 seconds each time, even if I travel over 1000 miles. I recently ran the Disney half and full marathons (Goofy Challenge). The watch locked on to satellites quickly and did a relatively good job of keeping distance. It did seem to give me the mile alert about 1/10 of mile early and then I would have to stop the timer until I passed the official mile marker when I would start it again to take out the error. It would then be accurate for about 3 miles before drifting again. I have never had this watch lose signal, unlike my Timex. The interval feature is great - the alerts are nice and loud and it includes a 5 second countdown for each interval. I recently used this watch on a 22 mile hike and it performed great. I had it on for 8 hours and it still had over half battery remaining - the manual gives it a life of 10 hours before a recharging is necessary. [...] I only wish the included Garmin Training Center was integrated with Motionbased. The included training center software is OK, nothing great. The only thing that annoys me about the 205 is the tendency of the wrist band to sneak out of the retainer band on runs. It does this all the time. Overall, very pleased.
Nice unit, usb charging only a drawback. February 3, 2007 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Nice compact unit, with good menus. Good pick up of sats and responsiveness. I'm not a big fan of built-in rechargeables, but I understand that it accounts for the units small size. The bigger drawback is the fact that it appears to charge only via a USB connection. As something I would look to use a lot on vacations, this is a big drawback as I don't always wish to lug a notebook computer around, just to charge a unit that I got primarily due to it's small size.

I Love It!! February 1, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Prior to getting the 205 I was driving aroung neighborhoods to mark out run routes to help train for distance running. Not anymore! With the 205 I just go for a run, monitor the distance and time while out and come home to sync with my PC. I get a record with very little effort and make routes from each run. I am so pleased with it!!!

The 205 does a great job as a multi sport computer, however I was disappointed to learn that the GSC 10 (cadence monitor), and the heart rate monitor won't work with it. if you want the extra tracking for your workouts buy the 305
