3 out of 5 stars There was no A/C power adapter.   May 11, 2008

There was no A/C power adapter in the box. I'm disappointed.
There is vehicle suction cup mount w/12-volt adapter and PC/USB interface cable in the box , so it's OK.
But I wish I could get A/C power adapter too.

5 out of 5 stars GPS Navigation for the Masses   May 7, 2008
My girlfriend hates little gadgets as a matter of principle, but the Garmin c330 won her over in less than a week. In a matter of days, she had changed the language setting to French, and took to calling the synthesized female voice "Linda." (Not much of a loss, since Linda has a limited vocabulary to begin with. But for the record, the c330 can intonate its directions in British English, Danish, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Belgian Dutch, Norwegian, Finnish, and Swedish -- and additional languages like Flemish and Portugese are available from Garmin's website as firmware updates)

The c330 is remarkably well-designed; it successfully strikes the delicate balance of being exceedingly simple to operate, while being powerful and feature-rich. Just as importantly, it is very affordable (albeit mostly due to the fact that they're refurbished, although you would be very hard-pressed to spot the difference). Imagine having a portable Mapquest that can give you door-to-door directions based on either street addresses or business names -- anywhere in the US. For the spatially-challenged, affordable and deftly-executed devices like the StreetPilot c330 are a godsend.

Most of the minor drawbacks of the c330 have already been brought up by other reviewers. Probably the biggest issue is Garmin's policy about providing map updates, or lack thereof. The c330's built-in mapset is decent enough as far as roads go, but it falls short in terms of being up-to-date with all the shops and businesses on your itinerary. Garmin releases an updated mapset every year, at a cost of about $75, with no discounts. At least it has an expansion slot for a SD card -- the latest mapset runs close to 2 gigabytes.

One last thing I'd like to mention is that while it may be tempting to leave it permanently mounted to your windshield using the supplied suction cup mount, it is illegal to do so in California. (Yes, I doubt that a police officer would pull you over based on that infraction alone -- but if you were in the process of being ticketed for something else, they might also feel like giving you another citation for the windshield mount) More importantly, it's far too attractive to would-be thieves, so we bought the Garmin friction mount and along with a cheap diaper bag. When we leave the car, we just tuck the whole thing, base and all, into the bag.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Deal   May 2, 2008
My husband is a painting contractor & travels daily to estimate work for new clients. He has wanted a GPS for a long time. I saw this refurbished one and couldn't believe how affordable it was priced. I was a little leary buying it (being a refurbish), but all the reviews were so good it convinced me. IT WORKS GREAT! You don't have to do anything - it worked right out of the box. We are totally satisfied!

5 out of 5 stars Love Love Love It !   April 29, 2008
Ordered on a Saturday and recieved it on Tuesday! Very impressive. I was nervous about it being a reconditioned unit, but we've had no problems whatsoever. Would recommend to anyone.
