Excellent All-round Nav Unit May 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The TomTom GO 510 as some unique advantages. The larger than typical screen is much appreciated. Menus are well-organized and easy to use. Easily customizable views and functions with excellent product support online, including PC backup of system. Exceptionally sturdy windshield mount that works very well. Well-made and certainly in the top tier of all competitors.
met expectation May 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
good product, with Tom Tom..I don't have to worry about getting lost. But holder is a bit problem for me. I couldn't place it on dashboard. On windshield, it doesn't stay and falls out often. I still haven't found the place for Tom Tom so I just keep it on the seat.
not impressed May 7, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is the first GPS system i have used so i don't have anything to compare to. Testing it on known routes, it would have gotten me lost if i didn't already know where i was going. The audio turning prompts are way too early, you really have to watch the display. It calculated some REALLY strange routes at times. Too bulky to put in my pocket like some. I would have liked some other type of mounting system. All in all, i'll stick to maps.
TomTom - Waste of Time May 2, 2007 Out of the box it was great. Easy to understand, big bright screen, multiple options for voices, etc... I got it as a birthday present (4/28) and I'm already fed up with it (5/1) and sending it back. The unit's been really fickle about turning on. I've already had to hit the Reset button 5-7 times. Also, the car adapter AND the home cradle don't charge the unit either. It may have just been a bad unit, but I'm trying one of the other brands next.
Don't let this one get away April 27, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So I received my Go-510 and expected it to work right out of the box. It powered up, great windshield adapter, no problems with the connections, bluetooth works perfectly, Ipod controls - no problem. Just one thing, NO SATELLITE FIX !! It would not lock on - even after one hour in the open sky. I thought, here goes....bad tech support....ship it back... But no. I called tech support, got through to a human (very knowledgable) in only 20 seconds. Problem was fixed by upgrading firmware and the unit works perfectly. I read on many sites of the problems plaguing these units. Apparently, they have all the bugs out because every aspect, every feature is cool and workable. The TomTom Go-510 is highly recommended in my book and mad props to the tech support crew - way to roll.
