Not a surge protector August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The small size of this power strip is very handy, but what I didn't realize when I ordered it is that it is not a surge protector. Now it's not much use to me because I won't use my laptop without a surge protector.
Great for international travel or cruising July 18, 2008 This is great for international travel, as you only need one international adapter to simultaneously charge all your gadgets.
It's also great on a cruise ship, where there is frequently only one US-type plug on the desk where you can charge all your gear.
In general, it's very sleek and compact and great for travel. Would be nice for hotels as well, so you don't have to spread your charging items all over the room, trying to find outlets. It isn't heavy or bulky. Perfect to charge my cell phone, video player and iPod all at once, plus plug in my laptop too!
Ultra portable - always stays with me July 14, 2008 When it comes to packing and considering space and weight, I am a bit zealous. I wanted a 'powerstip' that I could throw in my computer bag and always have with me. It seems that whenever you get to a client site or in a hotel, there are never enough outlets.
The problem was solved with this little beauty. With it's small form factor, it easily fits into any computer bag and does not take up excess space. If someone sees me pull it out, they are always curious about how a 'powerstip' could be so small. This was so worth the money. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner.
Pricey, but well-designed July 13, 2008 I used to travel with a standard household extension cord that, eventually, got quite twisted and was at least as bulky as this product. I'm not at all a fan of Monster products, but this outlet strip is well-designed and very practical. The plug and short cable attach neatly and tightly for storage, the outlets are well-space and and can accommodate "wall warts" easily. The plug is illuminated by a rather bright blue LED which is a handy indicator that there is power to the strip. It's so bright it functions as a night light -- this might be annoying for those who want absolute darkness when they sleep, but I find it helpful as I travel a lot and often wake up in the middle of the night in unfamiliar hotel rooms.
As with all Monster products, this one is on the expensive side for what it is. However, in this case, there is value for your money -- it's a well-designed travel product and I recommend it to those who need a compact, reliable power strip for travel.
Perfect for Laptops July 9, 2008 I was originally using a cheap single outlet surge protector I got from a local electronics store. When I decided I needed something with more outlets (for the laptop and a portable hard drive) I did a Google search and found this. I loved the way it was designed to be compact and portable. The short power cable simply wraps around the outlets and plugs into one of them. Perfect to carry around in my laptop backpack. A better solution than carrying around a small power strip (which is what a friend does). It only cost about $15 when I bought it from Amazon, which is a fair price for something like this from Monster.
