Great GPS March 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used Hertz's NeverLost system for many years and really like it. The c530 easily holds it's own against the NeverLost... in fact, the Garmin is much more user friendly with the touch screen feature. I've been using it for over 2 months now and have experienced no problems at all, including the oft dissed suction cup mount; it works fantastic (so far), just make sure the windshield is clean before attaching it, then stick it on as directed.
The unit acquires satelites very quickly, usually within 5 to 10 seconds (unless you turn it on in a different location than where you turned it off in which case it might take up to a minute). The voice is clear and plenty loud and the directions are very clear.
If I HAD to complain about something it would probably be that I have to remove it everytime I leave the car just to make sure it doesn't grow legs. In the winter it's no big deal because I can just put it in my coat pocket. This summer may be a different story though. This does not set the unit apart from anybody else's GPS so it's not a strike against the c530... only against a 'non-factory-installed' unit but, for over $1000.00 difference, I'll gladly tote it around.
GREAT unit!

It is easy to use and very accurate right out of the box. For the price it is great.
Excellent product for the price. March 3, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This wonderful little thing allowed us to venture out to areas that otherwise would have been avoided by us. I have owned this since Christmas and have driven for approx 3000 miles since then. Now it has become indispensable part of our driving.
Experiences: - We drove to our friend's place in suburb Boston from NYC and it brought us to the door without a hitch. Same with Philly and NJ suburbs and Westchester. - However, we did ran into a problem once. We drove around Woodbridge, NJ and Garmin could not recognize the road we were driving on (ie does not exist on the map). The road was leading to the entrance of NJ turnpike (exit 11) and was definitely not a new road. - Nevertheless, it's still a 5 star product. - If we saw traffic on the route, we just hit 'detour' and it automatically selects another way. Awesome.
PS. I compared it to my friend's c330. I think the screen quality alone is worth the $70 upgrade. I did not test the calculation speed, etc.
Great product, software a bit out of date February 27, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using this unit for 5 weeks now. A few issues here and there with the maps...out of date...closed businesses but overall solid product. Garmin had a crappy commercial during the Superbowl but there product sells itself instead of spending millions on a stupid commercial. I liked it well enough to buy another for my elder parents to use.
