2 out of 5 stars 50% accurate   July 3, 2008

I bought the 660 for use on a trip to Arizona and Las Vegas. It is a great tool with many faults. It's great when it works. And it worked 50% of the time for us. I just got it in June but maybe it needed a map update which I didn't think I needed since I just purchased it.
Frustrations:
*It took 2-3 minutes to aquire sattelite everytime I turned it on. By then we are on the road already hoping we were going in the right direction.
*After punching in a particular restaurant like "claim jumper" in Las Vegas, it lead us directly across the high way from it.
*It says stay left on highway and then it says to take the next exit on the right. By that time I didn't have enough time to get to the right to take the appropriate exit.
*It has led us on some wild goose chases. Ending up at construction sites or to places that are no longer in business.
*If there is a delay in your route due to traffic or an accident, It would not let me see what the next step is or the next turn would be after that. I had to wait to pass the delay. Maybe there is a way around this that i have not figured out.
*the voice on the system is a little difficult to understand at times. Especially in hawaii where it can't pronounce our street names so it spells it out instead.
Pros:
*When it works and actually gets us to where we want to go it's great.

1 out of 5 stars Not impressed....   July 3, 2008

No physical volume control ON unit... big minus. Needs MSN direct with gas prices being such an issue. Also, unit I received would get confused and completely lock-up, forcing me to reboot. I returned it and opted for the C580 and am very pleased now. Sure, it is a bigger and bulkier unit but it does more AND it is over a $100 cheaper. That is a lot of scrath now-a-days!

5 out of 5 stars Prior Tom Tom owner in love with NUVI   July 2, 2008

First of all if your a first time GPS owner don't compare reviews of an older competitors model with a current model from another manufacturer. It's not fair because the technology is growing exponentially.

Having said that I have/had a Tom Tom 910. Stopped working and Tom Tom's customer support is a disgrace. If your interested , see my review for the 910. Tom Tom eventually sent me a re-furbished unit for replacement, but obviously the unit was never checked because it had the prior owner's photos on it and was based in Kinsale Ireland. Tried for over three hours to re-set the replacement but to no avail. I'm sure if I could have contacted Tom Tom's customer support the problem could have been fixed, but Tom Tom's customer support is only now open from 8:30 to 7:00 so don't get lost or have a problem with your unit outside bankers hours.

The NUVI is much more user friendly and really really quick. The traffic avoidance system is awesome and seems to be constantl re-calibrating. Colors are brighter. Saving favorites is a snap etc.

Again don't compare features for a current NUVI to an older or Tom Tom vice versa. but customer support transcends model changes and model years, and I could not be more disppointed with Tom Tom

5 out of 5 stars An excellent GPS!   July 1, 2008

After researching the various kinds of GPS systems on the market, I purposed this system. It was an excellent choice! The instructions are clear, and the GPS system is extremely easy to use: it is logical and aesthetically pleasing all at once! One can actually use it with little or no instruction after taking it out of the box
I highly recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Very happy with the Nuvi 660   June 30, 2008

This was my first GPS, and I'm very glad that I got the Nuvi 660. It did everything I expected of a GPS and more. Particularly useful were the restaurant recommendations.

One thing I wished the 660 would do would be tracking of routes not yet on the basemap.
