Good GPS but Suction mount not so good May 12, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a pretty good GPS. But sometimes it does not provide you the best route, which you already know is better. Instead it will take you through some other route.
Additionally, the suction mount which came with this package was not so good. My GPS fell down couple of times. Then I purchased a Dashboard mount and it is working fine, though I spend additional $28 for that.
Nice, light, mobile May 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I owned another GPS and it was bulky, heavy, fell off the window frequently, gave bad directions, had to be constantly plugged into cigarette lighter and was not at all mobile. It was so bad, it found a permanent seat in the back of my wife's car within a couple of months purchase.
This Garmin Nuvi, after a month's ownership, seems much more useful. Directions have been good, it is light enough (about the weight of an older PDA) to move from car to car or carry out of town and best of all, it is rechargeable so it is not necessary to keep it plugged into your cars cigarette lighter. My wife is thrilled and thus so am I.
I don't know why I waited so long May 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am normally among the early adopters of any new technology, but with respect to GPS navigation systems for cars, I sat on the sidelines for years. I guess I thought that the automotive companies would finally just start making navigation standard...like windshield wipers. However, recently I started shopping for a new car and simply refused to pay $2000 for the option of navigation. Instead I finally shopped for an aftermarket unit. I wound up purchasing the Nuvi 660 and I am so sorry I waited so long!
This unit is amazingly simple to operate. Really, it is so intuitive that the owner's manual is really not needed. Everything you could need is in the box. Once it is initialized and finds satellites the first time, it becomes a constant and trusted companion. I recommend it to everyone!
GREAT product! May 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
(HISTORY: I purchased a lower model of TomTom for my 16-year old. I later purchased a high-end model of the TomTom for myself, only to discover that the maps were very outdated and did not have destinations that were years old. Manuf. wanted $100 to download updated maps. Naturally, I returned it.) I returned it for the Garmin 660 after seeing a friend's unit. VERY IMPRESSED---updated maps & easy to use! So impressed that I bought a second Garmin 660 for a 3rd vehicle. Have NEVER had one single problem!!! I wouldn't own another unit.
