Comprehensive package. GPS options and accuracy is great as expected from Garmin:). Good quality phone car kit & mp3 player too.

4 out of 5 stars Very good but not great   July 7, 2008

I got a 660 about a year ago, mid-2007, and carry with me whenever I travel. I travel a lot for my job, and the Nuvi really helps find addresses and restaurants when I'm on the road. I find the navigation to be very good but less accurate than the Magellan NeverLost systems I've used in rental cars in the past. The Nuvi frequently wants to route me off the highway and thru towns that I know will be much slower. It doesn't take into account traffic lights and stop signs, so you can't trust the estimated arrival time it displays.

I use it in the car and on planes to listen to podcasts I've downloaded to it, so the dual use is especially wonderful. I found the photo viewer quite poor in that it doesn't reliably display the pictures full-screen; there is often black all the way around it or else it is crudely cropped with no way of changing it. I suppose if you sized your pictures to be exactly the size of the Nuvi's screen, they would look fine. Also annoying is the warning screen that pops up every time you turn the unit on, whether or not you're moving. No other type of electronic device warns you not to use it while you're driving; it's just stupid, clumsy legalese.

One weird thing I've found is that there are some audio files that I can't get rid of. The interface doesn't allow you to delete audio files (you have to load and delete from a computer thru a USB cable), and some "deleted" files still show up in the Nuvi's audio library no matter what I do (including deleting all audio files and overwriting it with numerous new ones).

Since getting the 650, I've purchased a 600 for my mother, because I found that I didn't need the Blue Tooth or FM transmitter functions, and she wouldn't either.

5 out of 5 stars Great   July 7, 2008

Never had GPS before and used this to drive on two vacations. Both times the Garmin took the stress out of looking for places to eat and gave us better routes to take around unfamiliar towns. Highly recommend this model.

4 out of 5 stars Important features work well   July 7, 2008

The most importantly, the mapping feature works really well. Some of the other features are questionable. Such as FM transmitter. It is really really weak and my radio can hardly pickup the signal and I hear mostly static. The bluetooth feature works well when connected, but I have to edit the audio to be louder each time I pickup the phone, then lower the audio when it's giving me directions. In summary, its a great nav, but the lower models without bluetooth and FM transmitter is a better buy until the technology is improved.
