Before you make your purchase, pick up the phone and call customer support. You will find it is in India and it is worthless. They will lie to you about shipments you have been promised, know nothing of the products and are completely useless. To test this report, I challenge you to try to find anyone in the USA to speak to. Every phone number is routed to India as if there is no US presence at all. DO NOT waste your money. Buy anything but a Magellan. Call (909)394-500 to verify that what I am telling you is true.

I have no idea how I survived without this. Gone are the days of printing maps before I get in the car! It's great to arrive in a new city and have no doubt that you will get from point A to point B. It lacks a lot of the bells and whistles of other GPS units, but for me that is a good thing. I don't need all of that other junk. I bought mine last spring and just purchased another exactly like it for my Mom.

I've only had this for about a week, so I can't vouch for the long-term quality of this product.
I can, however, say that this is still an excellent GPS system. Granted, It lacks a few of the higher-end features, but so far it has been extremely reliable and quite sturdy. The voice is quite clear and easy to understand, the screen is very bright and colors are vibrant, and the actual GPS lock-on is excellent.
The included accessories are excellent as well. It came with both an AC and a car adapter, and a great quality dashboard and window mount, and a very clear and concise manual.
Bear in mind that since it is inside the vehicle, the metal of the car body plus reflective windows will reduce the GPS signal. It won't ever be as good as the system that comes built into the car, so if you're buying a new car and are thinking of getting this, see if you can get one pre-built into the car. The car antenna will make locking onto the signal faster and easier. Still, though, I haven't had any problem.
Overall a 5/5 star product.
Pros: Screen, battery life, included accessories, voice, sturdiness, price, ease-of-use while driving.
Cons: A little slow to lock onto the satellite sometimes, somewhat of a long first-use setup.

i HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THE MAGELLAN ROADMATE 2000. THE FIRST THING I DID WAS PROGRAM MY HOME ADDRESS. TESTING THE UNIT, I FOUND THAT IT MISSED THE TURN-IN TO MY DEVELOPMENT (SOUTH ON US 19 TO CIPRUS AV W).
SECOND, I TRIED TO PROGRAM IN A FRIENDS HOUSE IN TAMPA, FL. THE UNIT COULD NOT LOCATE MY FRIENDS STREET NOR COULD IT LOCATE THE NEAREST CROSS STREET.
THIRD, I PROGRAMED IN THE ADDRESS OF A HOSPITAL (BAYNET POINT, FL). THE UNIT GOT ME TO THE VICINITY OF THE HOSPITAL AND THEN DIRECTED ME TO TURN 90 DEGREES IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. IT WAS TAKING ME INTO THE WOODS!
I WAS ABLE TO GET PROPER DIRECTIONS TO SOME AREAS, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT, TO ME, THE UNIT MISSED.

This product will take you where you do not want to go. I knew the route
(which was the Turnpike) straight to our house, and this unit kept telling me to turn off at the nearest exit. NO REASON FOR THAT. Then I sent it back to them for repairs (if they would in fact do any) and it took months to get it returned after MANY phone calls. They blamed the delay on system upgrades. They also kept giving me different inconsistent answers. I would never buy one of these units again as it is UNRELIABLE and the TECH support sucks. They dont have a clue as to how to run this business. The support comes from some foreign country and you cannot even understand them. They make promises they cannot even keep. The technology is there but they have not developed it to be a useful tool yet. Wait until it is reliable and the product has some REAL support!!!!!!
