Has some issues. October 15, 2007 I have owned this unit for 18 months now. It usually does a good job but it does have some issues. Sometimes it sends you way off course but it eventually gets you there. When I went on a long trip and was coming home it said it would take 8 hours to go 300 miles on a 60 mph highway. Going to a town 70 miles away it wanted to send me on a route that was 100 miles long. Other times the voice will say right turn ahead when the map shows a left turn. The unit is not bad but has a few issues. Hopefully the newer units are better.
I'll follow Magellan anywhere! October 2, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great product that is easy to use. I bought one for my husband to use during work and he liked it so much that he bought me one too! 5 star product!
Lifesaver - sometimes literally September 24, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this product after getting lost on Long Island and almost missing a flight home. I travel with my job about 3 weeks a month, and I used to carry around Mapquest maps that I would normally lose during the trip. At first, I thought this purchase would be an extravagance, but now I can't live without it. I can travel without any fear of getting lost, which greatly has increased my personal roaming while on business trips. I recently updated the firmware and maps, and that was easy also (I was scared because I have Vista).
Out of Date Maps August 29, 2007 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
I just recvd this unit a week ago. I live in SW Missouri between Springfield and Branson, MO. The unit is easy to use but the directions it gives sux! the maps are out of date! There are street around here that where built over 3 years ago that are not even on the map it shows while u r driving! Going down to Eureka Springs I decided to put it to the test! Had i followed this GPS i would have ended up in a farm field had me turning on road that where not there! I would not recommend this GPS infact iam taking mine back cause it works like crap!
GPS for Dummies August 26, 2007 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
1. It does what is supposed to do, get you from point a to point b. 2. Maps on almost all units are static (point in time) not dynamic. If you want a unit that updates map's real time look to spend 2X to 3X more. 3. If you want a unit that speaks the street's look to spend 2X more. 4. All GPS units can lose a signal, price does not matter. 5. All units have a display that can break. 6. Few are waterproof (garmin has one for motorcycles) 7. Advance warining of when to turn is naturally speed dependent, these things help you with directions, not how to drive. You need to have some sense of where you are going,(sorry that is true). 8. Look at little things like how it plugs into the AC and mounting, some are a bit bulky. 9. Look at battery life if you plan on puting it in your pocket and using it outside the car. Also lighter and compact units are more expensive. 10. The more features you want the more it will cost. Figure out what you will be using it for 90% of the time. 11. Prices are droping 30 to 40% a year. 12. I am a dummy and have learned thru experience, hope this helps
