Would use it even if suction mounts were legal in this state! May 14, 2008
The friction mount works great with my Nuvi. It stays put where ever I've placed it on my dashboard, even when I'm driving on gravel back country hill roads.
I like the fact that the arm on this mount IS NOT suction mounted to the base. I don't have to worry about the mount "letting loose" in cold weather. I have another (less expensive) bean bag dashboard mount that uses the window suction mount to attach to the base. It works fine in warm (above freezing) weather, but can be "iffy" about staying stuck when it cools off in Minnesota.
Just remember that you have to use the holder bracket that came with your Nuvi suction mount. You have to attach that bracket to the arm of the friction mount. Brackets are not shipped with the mount.

This dashboard mount is perfect. It remains stationary when I'm driving ,and I only have to lift it off the dash and place it out of sight when I leave my auto. I didn't want to mar my dash board or windshield with an adhesive.

This dashboard mount will allow use of your GPS in states where windshield mounts are prohibited. Also, it makes it a lot easier to hide your GPS from view when your vehicle is unattended making a break-in less of a possibility. With the beanbag type construction it should fit on most dashboards with no problem.

I have tested this with sudden stops, harsh quick turns and it stays on the dash perfectly.
No complaints with this product.

I like the Friction Mount better than the windshield suction cup mount, since the Friction Mount allows me to place the Garmin exactly where I want it. It is MUCH better than the sticky dash mount that comes with the Garmin; that's not something you can remove easily, once you attach it! DON'T use that. This is much more convenient.
I will say that the Friction Mount does move a little bit over time, especially if you drive over rough bumpy surfaces, but it never causes a problem. You just shift the mount back to where you want it. It's also nice because it can easily be picked up and moved to other cars, plopped down to the floor to hide it, etc. Highly recommended.
