4 out of 5 stars For the money a lot of GPS   September 15, 2008

This is my 3rd GPS..the 1st was a C320 which I still have and also a NUVI 200 that was either stolen or lost...in any event I was looking to replace the NUVI 200.

To be honest I was not impressed with any of the NUVI lines. I find the maps to contain way less information compared to the C line.

This is my first TTS GPS and to be honest it took some getting used to as the voice is not as clear as the standard Turn Right in 500 feet voice...but after a day or so it is no problem at all. In fact you can turn off the TTS if you prefer the regular prompts.

I had a real problem getting the Bluetooth to stay paired with my Blackberry Curve...doing some searching I was able to see that by upgrading the BT to the latest software on the GPS it stayed connected

MSN is pretty worthless other than a bell and whistle when it works...I won't be renewing it in a year

Great GPS for the money as this was Top of the Line for Garmin before the NUVI came out..if you don't need the slim GPS get this one

5 out of 5 stars excellent GPS   September 14, 2008

why would you want a widescreen GPS device? who cares what is on the far left or right of your path! I need to focus on what is in front of me, this exact model is very nice, it is a bit chubby - I would guess for the bigger speakers, plays music with decent quality and the bluetooth option for your phone is loud and clear! the WAAS traffic is the best, more accurate the the step down grade, also has an informative trip counter, GOOD BUY!

4 out of 5 stars Great value on "last year's model"   September 11, 2008
There is a great deal to be had buying a Streetpilot 580 since it is the last of an older line. The screen is bright and easy to read, navigation is sharp with an easy to use interface, good volume from the built-in speaker and MSN Direct is well - promising. MSN coverage is not as good as their map shows for my area (around Trenton, NJ), with good coverage on the PA side and no coverage in Princeton, NJ. This is adequate for my needs as I get weather and gas prices stored over night, but miss traffic info for the ride home. MSN data can take several hours to load with a good signal and may not be complete and there is no indication of how current/complete it is - so it is better than not having it but not perfect.

Still, I think this is far and away the best deal on higher end GPS.

5 out of 5 stars GPS THAT'S A SNAP TO USE   September 9, 2008

This is my second Garmin GPS and both are a snap to use. I also own a Lowrance GPS. I purchased the Garmin c580 for my wife's car. She was always complaning how hard the Lowrance was to use. Now she is happy because she can work this GPS with no problem. She likes the bluetooth feature. The other Garmin GPS I own is the 7200 for my motorhome.
