5 out of 5 stars Great GPS after learning curve. FULL of features!   April 7, 2008
PROS: Full of features, Bluetooth(Great for those who's states have made talking on your phone while driving illegal), MP3 player, video player, picture viewer, and an extensive POI library. Split screen view is the best interface idea I have seen on any GPS. Easy to use for the basics right out of the box, but even better once you read the manual and learn all of the more advanced features. Good Battery life. Great File transfer interface for using SD cards.

CONS: Overall Speaker Volume is below average(Radio loud = not being able to hear GPS. A powered window mount speaker is included with European c520t and can be bought for roughly $30 -- [http://www.amazon.com/Mio-Factory-Cradle-built-speaker/dp/B000VK1QDE/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=miscellaneous&qid=1207570523&sr=8-3]; but is not as much of an increase in volume as expected; but better sound quality at higher volumes - makes placing and removing from car MUCH better, as the clip that comes with it requires 2 hands to detach and also is more difficult/impossible to plug the charger into if you have it mounted really low on windshield). Occasionally will freeze(I've had mine for over a month and has maybe froze 5 times; often when trying to change multiple settings or use multiple features simultaneously), Some settings/defaults unable to be changed(ie. bluetooth phone call speaker volume defaults to medium volume, you cannot set it to remain High for all calls, you must increase the volume at the start of each call. -- not a huge deal, but annoying nonetheless.

I recommend registering online and updating your software online (for free) - Mio has really been staying on top of attempting to fix glitches and other software based issues, allowing users to download patches/updates online; as well as, new voices, etc.

5 out of 5 stars Mio C520 GPS is a great unit for the price.   April 6, 2008
I purchased the Mio C520 GPS from Beach Camera, through Amazon.com. The unit arrived quickly and well packaged. The unit has performed flawlessly. It is very accurate in the positioning and I have found the voice to be easily understandable. I did purchase the optional power cradle with the built in speaker that allows me to remove the GPS without disconnecting the power cord. I purchased a 2008 Avalon with the optional factory navigation, and the Mio unit is far better than the Toyota unit. The Toyota navigation does not have a touchscreen, but a "joystick" that is definately not a joy. The Mio unit was less than $250, and runs rings around the $2000 Toyota piece of garbage! ARE YOU LISTENING TOYOTA? The Mio unit is very easy to use and I found that setup took me a while, but it is very functional. The only suggestion I have would be to have a way to delete individual POI's rather than deleting all at once. I would defianately recommed this unit.

5 out of 5 stars great gps   April 5, 2008
4.3" clear screen , also can be used as speaker because of the bluetooth.
very easy to use. can lead you also to the nearest supermarket / gas station / parking etc.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Screen, Accurate but Experiencing "Reboots"   April 2, 2008
I've been using the Mio c520 for a couple of weeks now and it is a decent GPS. This is my first GPS so I don't really have anything to compare it against. I have only used the GPS functions so far and cannot comment on the other features such as music, photos or bluetooth.

What I Like:

The widescreen of the Mio is very good. I like the split screen with the information to the right which is easy to monitor and is very informative.

The unit is very informative in regards to when to make turns and I like having the next street name or exit number displayed where it is easy to find.

The routes suggested by the system are OK. There is a secondary road I prefer to travel that runs parallel to a primary road that Mio wants to use and I haven't figured out how to get Mio to use it. When I travel via the secondary road, Mio does the route recalculation but, instead of recognizing that the road I'm on will get me to the same point, it keeps directing me to turn back to the road it wants me to be on.

The low price is a nice selling point for this device.

What I don't Like:

In two weeks of ownership, I've experienced at least 5 "reboots" of Mio while driving. The system just shuts down and I have to select through the menu options to get back into MioMap. Once MioMap is running again, the route you were on is still selected but it is concerning that these shutdowns are occurring. I haven't contacted Mio support, yet.

Battery life is terrible. I'm only getting about 1.5 hours per charge so I have to keep the car charger handy when driving on trips longer than that.

In the Information screen, the only POI's it lists are gas stations. Haven't figured out how to get other POI's to show up.

Summary:
I would recommend this unit if you want to get a decent GPS for under $250. However, I suggest doing some extensive research to determine if this rebooting problem has been reported by others before making a final decision.

5 out of 5 stars Great GPS for the cash.   March 28, 2008
About 10 min. of setup and it was up and running, play songs in background with GPS software running. I linked my phone with it and love that I can receive calls and make them with the GPS running, Sound is not too bad. Overall I like it, not sure if they are putting out updateds, but would love to see some. As a side note Mio / Navman are now one, maybe we will see updates soon.
