Sturdy but no frills April 29, 2008 I got a Nuvi 200R. The low price made it a great gadget to keep in my car at all times without losing sleep over the prospect of theft. And all I needed was something to get me around once in a while, or remind me when to turn because I tend to miss when I'm talking to people. Anyway, the Nuvi really does the basic job well. It's interface is brain-dead simple and always finds the address I'm looking for very fast. It tends to guess things for you and generally gets them right. Menus are intuitive and accessible. It's small size makes it easy to store but you can use the included mounting bracket if you wish. The down side is what you'd expect, everything it does not do. It's hard to navigate between close and far views. The + and - buttons are there but that's it and it takes a while to move in and out. The default is the "you are here" closeup route, so it's hard to get a view of the entire trip up front. No switching between view modes either. The speaker is too loud and I can't find any option to lower the volume so I put in my cup holder and close the lid, but then I have to open to see the screen. Changes like least time vs. shortest route are settable only in the tools menu so you have to set it up prior. Re-routing happens when you miss a turn but you can't choose an alternate route at an arbitrary point, or even at the beginning. You get the picture - great price but don't expect too much in the bells and whistles department.

As far as price and portability is concerned, this GPS Navigator is just the solution. If you're looking to get a NICE GPS but don't want to shell out all that much cash for the latest and greatest, this one definitely gets the job done and it fits in your pocket.
GPS NUVI April 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this Garmin and the maps were at least 3 years old. After using the GPS for 3 weeks, it is very hard to type the correct letters and numbers. You have to push the letter below the letter you want to get it to work. I would not recommend ordering the less expensive models online. I feel the reason they are less expensive online than in stores is that the have old maps and the stores need to get rid of the old inventory.
Unbeatable for the price April 27, 2008 In my profession, I drive hundreds of miles a week to new locations, and I don't know how I did it before I bought this GPS. It does not always send me the best way, but it always gets me where I am going. Of all the units I have seen, all have some flaws, so I went inexpensive and would buy the same unit tomorrow.
ALL YOU NEED !!! April 27, 2008 I bought as a gift because I am happy w/ my 360 Nuvi. I chose the inexpensive 200 nuvi. What a SURPRISE when I opened it to charge... it is ALL YOU NEED. No frills and no things you don't use in navigation. AWESOME
