5 out of 5 stars Best GPS for price by far   January 23, 2008
I use a garmin nuvi 350 for work driving all over the state and I love it. For Christmas me and a few of my friends wanted to buy our wives GPS's but didn't want to pay the price tag of the 350. We all read the reviews then went to local department stores and between the three of us bought, took home and used almost every brand worth trying under the $300 price point. We all ended up going with the garmin nuvi 200 model and all love it. Also beware when asking advise of the sales people at the big box stores. After taking some of thier advice on other models and being completly unhappy and even lost with one model. I took it back for a refund and found out that they had never actually used one in a car; only in the store.

3 out of 5 stars There Should be a Direct Route Option   January 23, 2008
I received this for Christmas (I'm notorious for getting lost) and was so excited. Since then I've taken a couple of fairly long trips using it. She (SuzieQ) gets me where I'm going but seems to take the long way. It's a straight shot down I-70 to get to St. Louis from Kansas but . . . I was advised to go through downtown KC among other things. A trip to Atchison, KS took me through some very rural areas that could easily have been avoided. I started out following the directions to see how well she worked but was ready to pull my hair out before I got back to any place I recognized. Some of the time SuzieQ says "Turn Right," or "Keep Right" meaning the same thing. Somewhat confusing. I need to find out from Garmin if the problem is with their maps or if it is something that can be adjusted on the unit.

5 out of 5 stars Helpful, fun devise   January 23, 2008
The Garmin Nuvi is not complicated to use; easier than some TV remotes. We are using it around the area to test it out before traveling out of state next month. It did lead us to a dead end in a nearby town, but quickly put us back on track as we drove out of it. Great fun, too. It named the islands in the Columbia River from I-84, and also the state hwy on the Wash. side.

I figured it would end the annoyance of me navigating from a map and having my husband ignore me. However, I occasionally must encourage him to please follow the Nuvi's directions even if he thinks it's wrong. It has given us new routes in nearby cities that were more convenient than our accoustomed way.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE my Garmin   January 23, 2008
I had purchased a MIO trying to save some money. I kept it for 2 day's and returned it as the directions sometimes took me miles out of my way and down sidestreets. It was also hard to figure out how to use. The Garmin is just the opposite. I travel a lot. It's almost scarey how I can zone out and this little box tells me where to go. I love my Garmin.
