GPS Review January 18, 2008 Love the product. Delivery was great and the performance of the product has been amazing. How do they program all that information into a unit like this! Even finds us great restaurant's when we are out! Thanks.
No bells and whistles, but does a good Job January 18, 2008 I recently purchased the Nuvi 200. I had previously owned a TomTom GO 510, and then for a short time the Jensen NVX200 made by AudioVox (note: don't buy it. Anything that you need to be reliable should not run on Windows CE. I was driving to Philly from NYC - it told me to get off the TPKE get on the side streets, and then says signal lost!!! Needless to say i returned it quickly).
Anyway back to the Nuvi 200. It doesnt offer all the extras of my old TomTom with the bluetooth, data services, traffic etc. Also the screen isn't huge. But what it does do well is navigate. It finds numerous Satellites quickly and doesn't lose them easily like the TomTom.
I never use the other services often, so wat i really need was a small navigator that worked well and thats what the Nuvi is. I got it for $175 or so on Amazon and can't complain. Only not worth 5 starts because it is missing the larger screen of the 200W and all other features mentioned.
Life has gotten a lot easier with nuvi January 18, 2008 I am an owner of 3 different nuvis- 200, 200W, and 660. The nuvi200 is a great unit with a very affordable price range, and lots of neat little features that one can use-you can locate hotels, restaurants, gas stations and much more, within the area you are traveling, which is very handy if you don't know the area well. But I like the fact that it's very accurate when it points out the directions and the voice prompts are clear. It will quickly recalculate your route if you miss your turn, and you can manually ask for a detour if you want. Me and my wife had the 200 and 200W, and I recently upgraded to the 660, then we gave my mom our 200 because she used to always get lost driving. She's very comfortable driving now that she knows she will get to where she needs to go. A nifty feature is the vast amount of languages in which you can get the voice prompts, and the written instructions, and I love the 3D map which clearly shows where you need to go. Overall, the nuvi 200 is a great unit for someone who just needs to know where they are going and doesn't care for the fancier features of the upper grade models. Enjoy!
Great Product January 18, 2008 Bought this for my Mom for X-Mas. Not sure she would use it since she's not too technologically savvy. But once I set it up for her and showed her how to use it she's been using it every day. Instructions are really easy to read, product is easy to set up and very easy to use. Dashboard holder isn't cheap or cheesy so it actually stays in place and it's easy to transfer it from one car to another if you need to. I would highly recommend this, and will likely buy one for myself!!
I friggin' LOVE this thing. January 18, 2008 I've picked up three of these over the last 8 months... one for me, one for my lady (oooh my ladeh), and one for my parents. I know this particular model is at the bottom end of the nuvi line of products, but trust me, it makes no difference. You get real value for your money here. It's the lack of all the bells, whistles, and fancy complicated features that make this unit easier to use, easier to understand, and more comfortable in general. Any feature that this unit doesn't have, believe me, you won't miss it. The 200 is very intuitive, simple to reconfigure on the fly, and has NEVER failed me. I'm not the kind of guy that runs out and buys every new piece of technology that comes out. In fact, I avoid it like the plague if I can. But I can freely and happily admit that I don't regret buying this thing AT ALL. I love it. If I thought buying one for my pushing-70 parents was a good idea, then you know it must be pretty good.
