5 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing!   January 8, 2008
I got this for my brother-in-law this Christmas and he loves this thing.

This is a summary of why it is so awesome;
1) It's a car thing - My brother-in-law likes cars and this is basically a car gadget; it's that simple.
2) The GPS works - I fly into Chicago often and he usually picks me up. Getting to the airport is now ultra simple, whereas it usually is a pain. Naming the streets did not seem to matter that much as the GPS will tell you stuff like 'stay left' or 'turn right in 0.2 miles' (to prepare you) as you get close and then 'turn right' ~100ft before the turn off - it is very accurate.
3) Other features - You could know exactly where you are going and still use the thing. The ETA is helpful. Finding a point of interest (i.e. restaurant) is helpful and the speedometer / average speed is just very neat.

This is a great gift for almost anyone.

3 out of 5 stars It's nice..,   January 8, 2008
It's nice for our first GPS. It is easy to use and set up BUT it has old information on it. For instance, a street in my town has been changed to another name but it's been at least 7 years (it's a pretty big street) that goes through several other towns in this part of Texas and on the GPS maps, it still lists it under the old name. Other than that, it's nice. The screen is very nice, you can view pictures on it and I know there are ways to get it updated but it would have gotten 5 stars had the information been more current.

3 out of 5 stars Entry level, missing some important features   January 7, 2008

Overall, I do like the product. However, I have quickly found the lack of spoken street names to be a real problem with this unit. Sometimes the on-screen directions don't match up well with the actual maneuvers you will take.

We ordered the Garmin nuvi 200 for our families and for ourselves. Our parents are somewhat technically challeged, and they've had no problem using this GPS after one quick tutorial. It gets you where you want to go, without added tools to confuse things. Everyone was thrilled with it and continues to tell us how great it is. I highly recommend this device to those who just need to know where they're going, without the added hoopla.
