It works! January 1, 2008 This GPS works easily and reliably. You punch in the address where you're going -- an easy step. Then it instructs you how to get there. Watching its little map scroll by is fun. If you miss a turn, or don't like the looks of a particular road it tells you to take, it re-calculates and helps you continue along. In all, it does just as you'd want it to.
A great navigation GPS December 31, 2007 The Garmin nuvi 200 is great for navigation purposes. The interface is simple and straightfoward. Even my parents were able to figure it out. I was impressed by how many points of interest it had and the detail and coverage of the maps that came with the unit.
If you need something to help you get around town and don't need an MP3 player and fancy stuff like that this it the unit for you. This unit might not be good for hiking. It only allows for a maximum of two waypoints and will not remember a path of where you've been.
Garmin 200Nuvi December 31, 2007 This is #4 GPS in my possession, airplane, boat and 2 car. By far this is the best unit from a user friendly mode. It will get you there in the best manner possible. Jusst take a few minutes to review its features. I do have a built in, in my Subaru Tribeca-- terrible!!--it can never get me anywhere -- it actually gets lost!! I use the Garmin in that vehicle. Have driven from Fl. to Ct. to Canada to D.C. and always got there the fastest way possible. I have used it when towing my antique car to Indiana and it avoided tie ups for me. I can't say enough about Garmin.(or as we call her "Carmin Garmin".
Some Notable Features Lacking - Overall Very Good! December 30, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all, I purchased this from BestBuy.com Dec. 3, 2007 for $170. My unit came with the 2008 maps.
Some things you need to be aware of before you buy this device.
1. Don't expect the maps to be perfect, or the POI's (Points of Interest) to be up-to-date. While the 2008 name is applied, many restaurants and stores that opened in early 2007 or prior were not available.
2. The device does not have a magnetic compass, which matters for some people.
3. The device has only 1 American English voice, and doesn't speak street names (only distances and directions to turn).
4. The device does not display the elevation very easily.
5. While you can add a destination and a waypoint, you can only have 1 waypoint, a significant limitation if you have multiple stops to make on your trip.
All in all, the device is good and I will keep using it.
Garmin will be my sidekick every day! December 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all, I am a Realtor. We travel from location to location, house to house every single day. With Garmin, I turn on my car and save the anxiety of not being on time to my next clients home or getting lost trying to find their home. I look at my gas tank and when it looks low, I now have Garmin to get me to the nearest gas station. Stopping for lunch in between appointments, I now have Garmin to show me where to find what I want to eat. My husband and I have children in Georgia, Maryland, and our vacation home is in Arizona. I am tickled to the point of eternal bliss knowing Garmin gives me knowledge, confidence and freedom. THANKS GARMIN!
