Nuvi 200 Rocks October 11, 2007 I ordered this as a gift for my father and needed something easy to use. The Nuvi 200 has every feature I wanted and the ease of use is so clear and uncomplicated. I played with it after receiving it and have decided I would like one of my own. We live in a small town (pop 950) and even our local stores were included. I don't have any experience with any other GPS systems, but feel that for the money the Nuvi 200 cannot be beat.
Freaking Awesome October 10, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This unit came along at a perfect time for the person who needs/wants a fantastic GPS without all the unneccesary different items on the more expensive models.
I was thinking on buying the 350 model but I coudln't see myself paying another $150 for an MP3/Audible player. As a long time subscriber to Audible I store all of my books on an $42 RCA 1g unit and play through a $10 cassete adapter through my car stereo and as far as MP3 music I burn my music through CD to play through my Stereo for a richer sound.
My friend owns one with text-to-speech and tells me he doesn't care for the longer verbose directions as compared to the 200 model which pretty much tells you when exactly to turn and when.
All told, this is a perfect unit that probably would have run around $1000 or so had it been out a year or so ago as I bought from Best Buy for $299. The Guy at Best Buy told me that this unit gives you dead on Navigational functions that bring you within 30 feet. WOW...So I wanted to prove him wrong and couldn't. If you need a GPS for what it is intended to to with dead-on accuracy, save you time and don't even look at another brand.
Perfect No-frills GPS October 10, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is my third GPS unit and it's a winner. It does an amazing navigation job via a lustrous 3D display and a sensitive(signal easily detected inside a building) and very quick satellite chip set. The low price and easy installation and use have made me convinced that Garmin knows what it's doing. On a multi-state trip recently it performed accurately, with good routing. Battery life, visibility, night dimming and data retention are all superior, although I wish the trip information page could customized.
Now, when will the GPS manufacturers make a unit that displays the speed limit for the portion of the road you are on AND one that changes the GPS time automatically when driving through multiple time zones on the interstates?
No unwanted frills and does its job October 6, 2007 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this for my wife, who has little patience for most technology. This unit is easy to use, great interface and gives you what you need without confusing the picture with stuff you don't need. She loves it, and more importantly, she can use it without getting frustrated. It got a bit confused up in the hills around our house when she was out by herself, but she thought it may have been her fault. Good restaurant database, good audio quality, clear screen even in relatively bright light. The compact size and light weight is important to us since we mounted it on a crowded center console in our Mercedes E420. The suction mount is excellent, easy to use and sticks well as long as the surface is glass smooth. The fact that you can put the 200 in your pocket or purse can come in handy.
Some limitations: once you are underway it is not clear how to alter your route to allow an intermediate detour. I think you pretty much have to know what you plan to do at the outset, set up multiple destinations, and follow the game plan. I could be wrong, but we couldn't figure this out on the fly. No big deal, just turn it off to reset and input the new route. A little clumsy, but this is not a frequent issue. The only thing my wife might have appreciated is for the unit to actually say the names of the streets. Text to voice would be worth the extra money, but it seems that to get that you end up buying a bunch of other features (MP3) that are superfluous. Bottom line, it does the job quickly, accurately and with no fuss. Money well spent.

The product is easy to use, learn and understand. I am absolutely please with its performance. Although, it did send me to three different locations thinking there was a grocery store and ultimately there wasn't. I understand that maps and locations are hard to keep up with, so I must investigate how to download updates... It is a terrific device that has saved me countless efforts I am sure...when looking for addresses...
