All I can say is that this device is very well executed as far as user interface friendliness and the features it has. I bought this for my parents (they are not tech savvy). They love it. It gets the job done very well and works 100% of the time, so far. I am even thinking to get one for my wife now. I don't need one though, the navigation system is built-in in my head :-). On the other thought, if someone would give it to me as a gift, I would really love to play with it.

Really wonderful tool. It has saved me hours of aggravation. Easy to setup and program favorite places.
Accuracy is generally spectacular, however it makes some mistakes - on rare occasions it has located addresses incorrectly and occasionally got things on the wrong side of the road. In contrast, on familiar turf its taught me some handy shortcuts. Detour feature is very handy -- helped me in rural Ohio farm country when my two lane road was closed for construction -- got me to destination with minimal additional mileage over completely foreign terrain.
Navteq website allows you to report mapping errors. Likewise for missing, changed or incorrect POI's. In strange cities, POI restaurants may already be out of business. POI listings of chain/box stores and restaurants are incomplete.
You have to be brain dead to miss the voice instructions -- usually at least 3 reminders before any turn.
I've subscribed to audible books for a few years and the ability to play them on the unit is very convenient because it automatically pauses the playback for voice instructions.
My internal speaker broke within 3 weeks, had to get an RMA -- internal speaker volume even at the top level is low for highway road noise -- but running sound through car radio with a cassette adapter is better than the internal sound system anyway -- even with speaker repaired.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat!!!

How anyone can get along without a G P S is beyond me. I've used the Nuvi 650 for three weeks and it takes me right to the front door of my destination every time.

We purchased the Garmin 650 and were very pleased with the basic operation right out of the box. However, call me old-fashioned, but I longed for a complete owner's manual instead of a very small booklet with limited information. The only option I had was to go on line and print my own copy. Also, after purchasing the item on-line we decided we would like an ac adapter and a carrying case. We went to four stores in Houston and no one carries accessories. Therefore, we had to go back on-line and have them shipped. It would have been nice to know that we would not be able to get accessories so we could have purchased them when we placed out order.

As a portable navigation, this thing has been nothing but great for me. I bought it just when I moved from California to Chicago area, and it helped me a great deal, saved so much time getting around. Map is very accurate as well. Great product.
