5 out of 5 stars Great In Europe   February 23, 2008
I am with the US Army in Europe and this device has been a Godsend. It is perfect for the car and when we get out to walk it is small enough to carry with you. You can also switch it from "car" to "walking" so it knows you can walk along paths and across open areas that a car can't drive. I understand some people have had a slow response. When it is first turned on that is true, but once it finds the satellites it seems to be quick enough. If you are traveling eastern Europe get the updated maps for 2007/2008 since the old maps only cover about half of Czech (found this out when we were driving to Prague and it kept telling us to take a right into a field). Keeping the software updated from Fujitsu Siemens website and from Navigon makes it a good tool. For the technically savy there are a number of things that can be done to this device to customize it. My favorite GPS so far.

I liked my Navigon loox 100 so much I ended up buying one for my wife and one for my son. My only real complaint is the input keyboard is arranged in alphabetical order instead of the standard keyboard layout which we are all used to.

Some times the route is not exactly the same as I would go on my own but nonetheless it gets you there.

Support for it is minimal though, I wish there were an easy way to get an external antenna and back up battery. Overall I'm pleased with it.

3 out of 5 stars Good product for the price   February 9, 2008

It's not the best gps out there but if you are looking for something cheaper than $300, this is the one to go for. It is slow starting up, and a couple roads have been out of date but overall it has worked really well! The screen is very colorful and nice, it has lots of features I like (speed limits, directions if you are walking, night time dimmer) It fits in pocket perfectly and I don't feel like I need a bigger screen at all. So if you are willing to be a little patient it's definitely worth the $130.

The Navigon LOOX is surprisingly good for the price. This GPS is quite accurate and pleasant to use. It has some quirks, but when you become familiar with it, you will wonder how you got along without it. As with all GPS, it sometimes takes you the long way, but I have found it to be quite accurate. Changing from state to state is tedious. You have to follow a rigid sequence when entering a new address: City, street, then number. There is a large POI, but some are not included. like the Queen Mary in Long Beach. I consider these minor as you can use the address instead. It comes with an excellent windshield mount. Satellite tracking is excellent. It is quite small and easily carried in a pocket. I have had it for two months and have already used it quite often in three states. If you want to try GPS or give an inexpensive gift, this is a good one to start with. I have no desire to get a more expensive GPS.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent   January 28, 2008

Very good you can't expect anything better for such a low price it does probably what a high end product does do, very sensitive doesn't need a flip out antenna it picks up signal even inside constructions, the only flaw is that it does not have a stronger audio volume for the mp3 play back, but this is an extra you need a navigator ain't it? then you got it...
I'm satisfied with it, I'll buy another one for my wife
