Its OK, but Im going to sell it for a Garmin, not happy with the map database April 22, 2008 I had a Garmin 200, and sold it to get this. I want my Nuvi back, it was easier to get started with, easier to find locations, and was more correct, though I have the latest map. I like the 4.3 " screen, but now realize the features, and street names is a better feature, since I really dont look at it once im driving.
Best Recent Purchase I've made April 13, 2008 I am so pleased with my purchase. I have used it several times now, and it has always taken me where I've needed to go. Highly accurate, easy to use. Voice Sound is easy to understand, Screen Size is awesome. I can't say enough good things about his product. You won't be disappointed.
TomTom April 10, 2008 My husband bought me one for Christmas and I love it. For our anniversary he wanted a Garmin. Two days after use he returned the Garmin because it was not as easy to use as the TomTom. So I ordered him one just like mine.
TOMTOM ONE XL April 3, 2008 Was unsure of the reliability of tomtom until I was in Los Angles/Long Beach area of Ca for the first time, and it took me right to the entrance of every address I was looking for, and again driving from Eastern Virginia to Toronto, Canada with the same results. Very good companion, and very accurate.
Good Unit - Battery Life Limited March 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am new to GPS and have been hesitating buying a unit. The TomTom brand came recommended by a neighbor and by a taxi driver.
I live in a major city. TomTom seems to have fairly accurate directions and street ID. The directions sometimes are not the most direct, but when I take the shorter route, the unit accurately recalculates the path. It also picks up signals very very well. The destination addresses are easy to enter into the unit while on the road (which was the biggest obstacle to buying a unit).
The battery is limited to not more than 2 hours. Otherwise, it needs to remain plugged into the cigarette lighter - a bit limiting when wanting to walk with the unit.
Also, beware of where you mount this unit. I mounted it on my windshield (below the rear view mirror, as instructed), and it falls off once every hour. Mounting it on the dashboard probably is better . . . it also won't fall as far.
Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I think a smaller screen (less than the One XL) is useless, as my taxi driver was also explaining. However, the larger screen on the One XL is easy to read.
Lastly, I do not understand why this unit does not have "speech to text". It does have "spoken instructions", which means you hear "turn left in 500 feet" as opposed to "turn left on Main Street". The speech to text is another $50 - $100 dollars, depending upon where you buy the unit.
Still, I would recommend this unit to anyone.
