5 out of 5 stars Perfection.   March 20, 2008

Idiot-proof and very user friendly.

I agree with a previous review poster, you may want to plot a location you know how to find before using it on something you don't.

I love that I can personalize it: I changed the start up picture and the shut down picture. How neat!

Don't forget to plug it into your computer every now and then, otherwise it takes about a minute or two longer to find a GPS signal.

Buy the lower priced Garmin Nuvi 200 for $150 here on Amazon. Better deal, better quality GPS with lower profile depth. Easier to operate and it shows the street name where you turn at the top. Don't have to go looking for it someplace. It automatically recalculates if you make a wrong turn, rather than manually having to punch buttons for corrections. It also automatically changes display back and forth from nightmode to daymode, rather than having manual operations once again. Updated maps available from Garmin website every couple years. 5 hours charge time compared to Tomtom's dismal 2 hours. Accurate to which side of the road an address is located, where Tomtom is ambiguous. Works great indoors as well, and picks up the satellites super-fast. Go Garmin and save the few bucks in the process. You'll be happier.

Brilliant, easy to use and just the right size, many different voices to choose from and set up on the computer is simple. Great value navigational system

4 out of 5 stars TomTom GPS   March 18, 2008
Let me start of with the good - So easy to use, outstanding navigation.
The Bad - apart from not having a printed manual which you don't really need because it's so easy to use, well I would have to say no bad points.
The bottom line is, if you spend a lot of time in unfamiliar places this GPS would save you a lot of frustration so I cannot really fault this system.
There are lots of other brand out there but I find TomTom to be the best in terms of price, ease of use and looks.
I'm very happy with it and have been recommending it to friends.

2 out of 5 stars Getting Lost with a GPS   March 15, 2008

I heard some bad reviews on TOM TOM but resisted to listen. So I did end up purchasing one and I now can see where those bad reviews are coming from. I went up to LA for concert, trusting the GPS I did not get direction from Yahoo or Mapquest, ended up lost, asked people around and was late twenty minutes. I do not recommend it. At all.
