4 out of 5 stars Works Great Needs Little Improvements   January 23, 2008

Bought this for Christmas as the price on Amazon was perfect. Used the item for over 1 month with very little complaints. System worked right out of the box, and for the price beats anything out there. I highly recommend this entry level unit. I don't need MP3 or other fancy accessories. It is accurate to about 15 feet.
I say my only complaint was the battery life (about 4 hours) and that is does not come with a case. It also takes about 30 seconds to locate the satellites after start, but that is not a big deal.
I'd also buy a universal charger that fits in your USB, car, or house outlet.

Pro's: Ease of use, Download Maps from Google Free (business only), free updates. Internet interface.

Cons: Battery life sucks, does not come with car charger or case.

4 out of 5 stars Very good and a bargain   January 23, 2008

I have been using my TomTom one version 3 for a month now and love it. It was easy to use right out of the box and is as good a basic navigator as you can get. If you want good basic navigation, don't care about traffic updates or an MP3 player in the device- this is the one.

This GPS system is compact and easily portable. It had an easy setup and took no time to get comfortable with.

I did much research before I bought. I looked at price and features. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend the tomtom one to anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Value for money - does the job.   January 21, 2008

This is my 2nd GPS and I am completely satisfied with its performance - especially for the price I paid for this one - $125 at Amazon. Yes, there are other models that have a host of features like MP3 player, bluetooth, ipod compatibility etc. etc. However, if you just want navigation only, this one does it right. The satellite signal acquisition is very fast, since this one has the good sirfStar III chipset, which is all what matters.

The map accuracy could be better. As a matter of fact the street that I live on, is incorrect on this GPS. Nice thing is that you can correct the map yourself, and share your corrections with other users as well. I hope in time TomTom will recognize the mistake, and post it publicly.

This one has maps of both US and Canada, as opposed to similarly priced models that have USA only. It does not have spoken street names. I have seen other GPSs with spoken street names, and of course that is a nice feature to have. However, one can easily get used to without the spoken street names. (Do not confuse this with spoken directions. Mostly all GPSs these days speak directions. I am referring about Text-to-speech).

All in all, this has been a great value for money at $125. You wont get lost !!!
