So many good features, so little price July 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had a Magellan Roadmate for 2 years. I couldn't believe how much this little thing did for just $150 at RadioShack.
Very customizable. Fits in my pocket (even with the mount attached). Connect it to the web for updates, traffic, gas prices and more.
I didn't need a manual- even without buttons it was easy to operate right from the start.
I love that it has a rechargable battery. I love that the included mount is so versatile. I bought a $30 extra mount and then took it back because I didn't need it. I love that you can switch from 2D to 3D. I didn't think I'd like 3D, but I do.
You can show speed, direction, time remaining, actual time, distance to destination and several other things. Don't like those, then customize your view.
Who'd have thought you could get all this for $150?
The only thing that keeps me from giving it 6 stars is that I can't figure out how to program "routes" (from one destination to the next). Well, okay, Amazon only lets you give 5 stars...

I love this product and I am happy I bought it. The only thing I do not like as much is that the directions to turn are repeated more than once and when you are on the freeway it tells you to stay left or stay right many times when you are going straight.
User friendly July 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This GPS is very user friendly. It makes travel much more enjoiable. One improvement will be a charge cable that can connect directly to 120V power outlet. That is why I rate this product 4 stars instead of 5.
TomTom One 3rd Edition July 4, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found this GPS to be a great value for the price and purchased it due to a recomendation in Consumer Reports, but within a week and a half of purchase the unit began adding an "X" to every key stroke when entering a destination. I contacted TomTom technical support and they were very cordial over the phone and tried to straighten out the problem as best they could. After almost an hour on the phone it became aparent that the unit would have to be returned to the factory for repair. The representative led me to believe I would receive a prepaid shipping package and e-mail instructions shortly. When I received the instructions, I discoverd that I was expected to ship this brand new defective unit back at my own expense. TomTom replaced the unit with a new one with updated software and it is still working fine after three weeks, but had I not discarded the original packaging I would have returned the unit to Amazon for a refund and purchased a Garmin due to their unwillingness to assume responsibility for the shipping costs to repair an "out of the box" defective unit.
Great affordable and versatile GPS! July 3, 2008 There are a lot of nice features on this very affordable model that make it great buy. We were impressed that we could get satellite signal in our living room in a brick home with many other brick houses around us. We never lost satellite on our long 14 hour trips up and down the east coast. We LOVED that it NEVER annoyingly announces "Recalculating!" when we veer off the intended route. Our Garmin would drive us crazy with that. It just simply, and VERY QUICKLY rerouted us and told us where the next turn was. We also liked how we could decide what information would be displayed: arrival time, current time, compass, speed, etc. And it is definitely nice to pick and change what voice it uses for the verbal directions. A number of different voices are preloaded and more are available free online, as are points of interests. It was very easy to get a special icon loaded in for all the Dunkin Donuts, or Target etc. You can also select which POIs you want displayed.
The (very minor) Cons: A little difficult to download the updated maps-We had to download the updated TOMTOM home software from their website first before we could get the maps. No big deal- one time annoyance, that's all. The only feature we were disappointed was not automatic was the night display. You have to change it manually through the menus. This is only an inconvenience if you are taking very long trips.
