Not bad at all but room for improvement October 9, 2008 Just received the 760 and have had it for about a week. I too have noticed that the voice prompts are delayed a bit. I recommend looking at the map and the highlighted route that it prescribes and preparing yourself for the actual turn/exit. Therefore when the voice prompt comes up, you'll know that you made the right turn haha. One less star rating for the voice prompt delay.
Also note to prospective buyers, CHECK THE GARMIN SITE FOR SUPPORTED CELL PHONES FOR THE BLUETOOTH FEATURE!!! I just figured since my phone was pretty new and had just bought it this past summer (LG Venus), I thought it would connect just fine. Unfortunately, my phone is not compatible with the bluetooth connectivity so one less star for that.
Looking past these two cons, the gps unit is pretty solid. Connecting to the satellite and recalculating routes when you go off the recommended path are pretty quick. We're talking about mere seconds and you're up and running. The maps, colors, display, touch functionality, and overall design are well made. The most important part of a gps unit is the ability to give you directions and get you from A to B in a timely and efficient matter. The 760 will do just that and thus deserves a 3/5 rating!
Good navigation, delayed turn prompts October 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Garmin Nuvi does a fine job of giving directions from place A to B, but it's voice prompts are delayed. So it'll tell me to turn after I already passed the point where I need to turn. What's the point of having a GPS that doesn't provide directions in a timely manner?
Very Happy with Nuvi 760 - Recommend to anyone needs a GPS October 8, 2008 I bought Nuvi760 in September through Amazon. The first day I had to attend a wedding in Hazelton, Pennsylvania. It was very complicated terrain area I have never been before. Returning home in total darkness was a challenge but the Nuvi guided us safely and accurately. This was my first mobile GPS. My car (Lexus 350) has a built-in GPS, but it is USELESS! It is totally stupid nonsense GPS that I had to pay $$$$.00 extra. Only problem was that there was no 'sound'. I found that I had to turn off the FM., in 'settings' /'tool'. (the Manual is poor) Then it works fine. I am very happy now and look forward my next trip to uncharted territories.
Over Priced October 8, 2008 Kind of disappointed with it. I expected more for the money. The FM broadcast is terrible. Blue-tooth don't work with my phone. Seems like could display more information, like distance traveled, my speed on map page. do like speed limit on map page. This winter I plan on loading more 2ND source software for Points of interest, and learning it better.
I travel a lot in a motorhome and will continue to use my laptop with Delorme Street Atlas. I think I have more control on planning my route.
Good product October 7, 2008 I love the GPS but every once in a while it locks up and you have to shut it down and restart. The directs say the street name and the 3D view helps see streets before you are on top of them. I would recommend it, the only flaw is that it locks up.
