This was my first GPS system. Worked perfectly right out of the box instantly locking into the satellite system. I found the accompanying instructions to be brief and lucid and the system itself to be very intuitive in operation. Instructions it provides are accurate and timely. We are very happy with this purchase and use it a lot since we are retired and wander a lot into new areas.
Go buy it August 8, 2008
I was on vacation for well over a month. Bought the 760 to prove what its worth in real world. Drove here from Alabama to Atlantic City, Washington DC, New York Time Square, New York Niagara Falls and cites along the way and back. Clock well over 3900miles total and an additional 1500 drive to and from orlando Florida.Thats a total of 5400miles.
I would say 90 percent was very accurate. The 9 percent was some of the roads are still not on the map. New road construction being built every day, it really is an ongoing update to your map regardless to what brand of GPS you get. 90 percent is considered to me as excellent. 1 percent would be error to a specific location. However, i was still in the area that i intended to go which was realy easy to spot.
Using gps has thought me many ways to get to a certain location which i never dared before when i was in Orlando. Why ? gas, headache and mainly time! These are the 3 things that cost you 3 to 4 times more than your gps
The Garmin 760 is super easy to use and i would recommend anyone to buy GPS. And Garmin 760 served me well!

I upgraded from the c340 and love the 760. I was hesitant to spend the extra money, but its well worth it. All of my minor issues with the c340 have been solved with the 760.
1. The 760 locks onto a satellite very quickly at startup.
2. Maintains signal around tall buildings and trees
3. I read complaints about traffic alerts being old and incorrect, seem accurate so far in my area.
4. I know longer have to type in the city name if I've been there recently. There is a folder in the top left corner of the page where you type the city name that has a drop down list of cities you've been to recently.
Garmin did a great job here. Don't think twice, this is the one you want.

I own a 2720 Street Pilot and wanted something close for my son.The nuvi
760 has all the good points plus a lot more like blue tooth FM capability.
He used it to navigate from Vermont to Georgia and was well satisfied with the directions and accuracy.
Minor points on the down side were that the City Navigator was version 2008 when 2009 has been out for a while, yet no exchange or credit was provided.
Also the 12 volt/FM cable had a broken fuse holder. It should be noted that it was in a sealed container from Garmin and not the fault of Amazon
or their supplier. I contacted Garmin and they immediately replaced the defective cable. We are well satisfied!
Garmin 760 is Excellent August 8, 2008
I have GPS built into my cars but bought the 760 to use when I travel and rent cars. I have used it side by side with the Toyota and Honda systems built in and it is an excellent unit. Easy to use, program and see despite the smaller screen (compared to the built ins). I had no trouble setting it up and I like being able to bring in inside after a days use to program the next days trip. Some of the routing it gives is not the way I would go on known routes but that is true with the built ins also. Compared to the cost of a built in you can't go wrong with this unit.
