Garmin 750 June 14, 2008 The Garmin 750 has been very valuable in allowing us to find gas stations, restaurants and places of interest in both the US and Canada. We enjoy the option of being able to have various voices as well as languages direct us to our location.
Garmin 750- Great! June 13, 2008 works great everything i needed to go on a long road trip with only an address
Very pleased so far June 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I received my Nuvi 750 about a month ago. The first thing I did was register the product online, and during the registration it declared the unit eligible for the 2009 map update and took me right to the upgrade site. Nice touch. As others have mentioned, make sure you have at least 5GB of space on your hard drive and several hours to do the upgrade. It's lengthy, but it completed without any problems (after I deleted about 3GB of accumulated cruft on my PC).
It has never taken more than 20 seconds to get satellite lock, and usually has a signal before the car starts moving. Screen visibility is excellent, and the touch screen sensitivity is adequate (sometimes I have to tap it twice to get its attention). As others have found, it doesn't always pick what I consider the optimum route, but it rarely chooses a bad route. If you expect to be on highways most of the trip, choose Quickest route. For around town, use Shortest. With the multi-destination routing feature, you can always enter an intermediate stop to force it to pick a desired route.
The sound is a bit weak if you have the radio on or windows down, and the FM transmitter just can't provide a clean enough signal. But I find most of the time the built-in speaker is sufficient.
I attach mine to the friction mount, which makes it easier to hide when leaving the car. The mount is surprisingly stable even when taking tight turns.
By the way, for those who complain about having to hit the Back icon multiple times, if you just press and hold the icon for a couple seconds it takes you back to the main menu.
Overall, I'm very happy with the Nuvi 750.
Best purchase I have ever made June 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You won't be sorry when you purchase this Garmin. Where ever you want to go it will get you there by the best route. I use it all of the time and don't know how I ever got around without it. I love the route feature, you can enter as many address as you want and it will map the best route for you to take. Wonderful product.
Nuvi 750 Review June 9, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
We purchased the Nuvi 750 for my wife. The unit is extremely simple to set up and does a fantastic job of providing very accurate directions to your destination.
The only "negative" I would mention is that you have to continually use the Back icon to get back to the home screen rather than being able to just go to the home position with the click of a button.
Other than that minor issue we would recommend this unit to anyone. It offers a good mix of price versus features for anyone's needs.
