3 out of 5 stars Bought it then returned it.   April 8, 2008

The NUVI 750 is a nice looking unit with many useful features. Unfortunitly two of the things that are most important to me, satellite acquisition time and sound quality are, in my opinion, less than stellar. At times it took too long to find satellites and the speech sounded tinney. I returned the unit and bought the NUVI 660. I am satified with the 660's performance so far. It locks on quickly and the sound is better.

4 out of 5 stars A Great Unit That Does All Well   April 7, 2008

I did a lot of comparative, hands-on shopping between Garmin and Magellan before buying this unit. My thanks to the patient associate at Best Buy. I finally picked this model of the 700 series because I didn't need the options include with the 760 or 770. The 750 works super. Easy to set up and use. A great unit which does everything well. One recommendation: forget the windshield mount that comes with the unit. Too much of a clue that you have a unit, and an invitation to thieves. Instead, get the optional Garmin portable friction mount, which you can place anywhere on the dash. When not in use, simply remove the whole unit and mount put it on the floor, and cover it with something.

5 out of 5 stars Mostly Pros not many Cons   April 6, 2008

This is based off my personal experience... of course. I have had the nuvi 750 for about 3 months now and have traveled with it from NY to PA to MD and everywhere in between. As soon as I got it out of the box I updated everything from the Garmin website.

Pros:
-Fairly quick at recalculating your route
-Screen is bright (even at 50%) and easy to view
-Sound from speakers is decently loud to have music playing and still hear the system (as long as your not blasting your music)
-Battery alone runs for about 4-5 hours.
-Layout of all the touch buttons is simple and easy to use
-Small enough to fit in your pocket but large enough to easily view from your dashboard
-Great price. (Best Buy sells it for 500 dollars)
-Easy plug and play use on your computer
-The vehicle icons for download are entertaining as you can be a tank or a guy on a snow board or even a Christmas tree.
-Other Pros are listed with the system info like multiple POI'S, Favorites, mp3 storage and images etc. and allows it to be more then just a Navigation Unit

Cons:
-If it hasn't been on in a few days it can take a few minutes (3-5) to acquire the satellite reception when you turn it on.
-The vehicle power cable that came in the box was not for the Nuvi 750 it was for a different model. I had to go purchase the same one used in the streetpilot and Nuvi 200 series.

Comments and Notes:
-If your scrolling through all the options and need to go back to the main screen just HOLD the back button and it will take you back instead of constantly pressing it.
-People complain about the sign for the speed limit on the screen but it only shows it for major highways and it never got in the way for me.

Overall and Summary:
I would recommend this unit. I got lost in Pennsylvania on my way up to visit a friend and I was in the middle of nowhere but I turned on this baby and found my way quick and easy. It would've been bad and painful if I didn't have it. (No thanks to my friend for the poor directions)

Hope this helps.

A very good investment, just used it to go across country and it worked as advertised. Able to find places that would be hard to find especially in new areas.

This unit is absolutely fantastic. Easy to use, speaking for someone who is electronically illiterate. Love it!
